Hi Community,

We are Albert and Wisam, two dedicated fathers and gamers (board games, video games, role-playing games). We believe almost every game is an experience that can teach us something new.

For more than 3 years now, we've met every Wednesday around our game tables to work on our dream of making Andoria Battlefields a reality.

What began as just an idea between friends is now a finished game, and with the community's help can now be shared with everyone.

I think that's enough about us. Welcome to the world of Andoria Battlefields!

Now that you've seen some of the images from the game, we want to get into the features of Andoria Battlefields:

 

Long ago a great war shook the world of Andoria to its core, but now those days have long since given way to peace. Enemies began to work together, and alliances were forged.

These new friendships have resulted in an active exchange of ideas, and brought the 4 kingdoms to a new golden age.

Alas, now this peace is once again threatened... Mysterious portals have begun to appear throughout the land, through which hordes of monsters have emerged to spread chaos. Now the 4 kingdoms - Humans, Anima, Guardians, and Nords - must unite to defeat this enemy and defend their homeland. How will you influence the war?

Andoria Battlefields is a fast-paced board game for 2 to 4 players where each player controls both the heroes fighting to save Andoria and the monsters trying to destroy it.

Lead your forces to victory against the your opponent´s monsters.

Achieving victory by controlling the battle fields will require both strategic and tactical skill. To accomplish this you'll need to recruit powerful units, such as warriors or dragons, and use their unique abilities. You'll also strengthen them by casting helpful spells and building protective barriers.

The video will serve as an introduction to the game's mechanics. Design, layout and some unit abilities are not final.

 

 

Every player takes a battlefield tile and draws a starting hand of 5 cards from the Hero deck.

  

The starting player receives 2 gold tokens from the supply. All other players each receive 4 gold coins.

A turn consists of two phases, the Hero Phase and the Monster Phase.

The Hero Phase consists of the following steps in order: Supply, Recruit, Move and Attack. Each step is described in detail below:

The Hero player receives 2 gold tokens and draws 1 card from the Hero deck.

The Hero player may now recruit as many units or cast as many Spells from their hand as they wish, as long as they are able to pay the cost for each unit or Spell, for example the Knight costs 1 Gold token.

The Hero player may now move and attack with any of the Hero units on their battlefield in any order.

The unit may not change columns.

Now the Monsters get their turn to try and defeat the Heroes of Andoria! The Monster phase continues to take place on the Hero player’s battlefield. The player sitting to the left of the Hero player will control the Monsters on the Hero player’s battlefield by recruiting new Monsters and casting Spells from the Monster deck, moving the Monsters and attacking. This player is referred to as the "Monster player".

The Monster player draws 3 cards from the Monster deck, and shows them to the Hero player.

The Monster player may recruit as many Monsters or cast as many Spells from the 3 cards as they wish, but they must pay the cost from their own gold supply.

This is similar to the Move and Attack step in the Hero phase. The Monster player moves and attacks with Monster units and the Hero player rolls the defense dice.

When the Monster player has finished moving and attacking with the Monsters, that player now becomes the new Hero player and the next turn begins with a Hero Phase played on their own battlefield.

The game ends immediately when any player has 2 Hero units on the Monster row of their battlefield. This player’s Heroes have closed the portals, freed Andoria from the Monsters, and they have won the game! If 2 Monster units reach the Hero row of any player's battlefield, then that player is immediately eliminated from the game. The player on the eliminated player's left will now be the Monster Player on the battlefield of the player on the eliminated player’s right. However, if only one player now remains, then that player wins the game as the Monsters, who have fully broken through the portals and overrun Andoria!

The Team

We'd love to introduce you to the team involved in this project.

We're the core design team and have known each other since our school days. Even back then, board games were our number one topic of conversation. We would go on about them constantly, between and sometimes during classes (often to the dismay of our teachers). What began over 20 years ago as a hobby, quickly developed into a passion. Our countless game nights, campaigns, and dungeon delves allowed us to explore different strategies and game mechanics. Over the years, plenty of crazy game ideas have come and gone - but one particular game concept has always stuck with us. We knew we had to make it a reality, and now after more than 2 years of hard work we can finally present to you our final product: Andoria Battlefields. We are Raentik Games.

Von is from the Philippines, and has blown us away with his talent. He is a 21 year old artist, whose work has inspired us. His talent has brought Andoria Battlefields to life, and we're certain that he has a highly successful career ahead of him.

 John is a real renaissance man, who seems to be able to solve any problem. He's been with us from the beginning, and doesn't stop until he's taken care of the last detail. Unfortunately we don't have space to fully list all his contributions here as they go far beyond the scope of this campaign.

With his many years of experience in the field of board game production and management, Frank Jäger has stood by us with valuable help and advice. He works for the game manufacturer Ludofact, who will be handling the production and logistics for this project. You can find out more about Ludofact here. 

 Editing & Translation

The team at Erklärpeer has been responsible for the German editing and proofreading. We want to especially thank Peer Lagerpusch, Pierre Dierks and Markus Klapper.

Quint Wheeler did the English translation for the game (rules, cards, and campaign page). We greatly appreciate his professionalism, competence, and reliability.

Tracey Smart and Tony Neville also helped with editing and proofreading the English version of the game. Their experience and ideas have been very helpful to us.

Risks and challenges

We are two long-time friends who have been working for more than three years now to make our dream of Andoria Battlefields a reality.
Over the course of development we've honed our skills and acquired numerous contacts and supporters within the game industry who have been generous in sharing their wonderful ideas and extensive experience with us.
We've put together a team that has worked diligently and with great love for this project. Now we're excited to present to you the fruits of our work: Andoria Battlefields.
Our goal has always been to create a well-balanced game that can be both learned and played in a short period of time.
To this end, we've given the game to many different playtest groups and asked them for their feedback. But most importantly: we didn't teach them the game, instead we just gave them the rulebook. We wanted to make sure we caught any rules ambiguities or misunderstandings in advance - and because of this the rules and artwork are already 90% complete.
In addition to producing a high quality game, our other top priority is to have excellent transparency and communication during the entire campaign. We promise to always communicate quickly, openly, directly, and honestly with you, our community of supporters.
We anticipate having the game completed within four months of the end of the campaign. Of course, even well-established professionals can encounter unexpected problems: production, shipping, or portals opening and a monster invasion occurring. To minimize these risks, we've chosen to work with an experienced industry expert. Ludofact, the largest boardgame manufacturer in Europe, will handle the production and delivery of Andoria Battlefields.
In this way, we can guarantee you a high-quality product and prompt delivery. In the unlikely event of shipping or other unforeseen problems, we guarantee you a full refund of your pledge.
