About this project
SOAPrANO was conceived as a solution to the ever-present problem of bar soap depositing soapy, messy, dirty water on the soap dish and the sink surface as well. The name SOAPrANO is a play on the word soprano, the highest voice in an opera (since the soap hangs up higher). The design is simplified for production, and for ease of cleaning (despite the fact that by nature it will remain cleaner than traditional soap-dishes).
I'm currently trying to get materials and finalize a process for producing these by hand (in limited) quantities so that I can then market it as the final product. Each SOAPrANO requires sheet metal of about 1/16" thickness and is about 7" tall. The mesh or netting that holds the soap bar is an elastic, and SOAPrANO is attached to the sink surface via suction cup. It's the best way of eliminating the hassle of dirty slimy soap dishes. What's more, the mesh actually scrubs the hands better, (sort of like what a loofah does for your body) and additionally provides better grip on the soap. Risks and challenges
I believe the biggest challenge will be getting exposure for the product. I'm gonna apply for a patent, first of all, and also begin marketing it on social media, in person, basically whenever I have a chance. I display artwork at a local gallery that also sells small household artisan goods, and I can put SOAPrANO there as well. The funding will help greatly in entry costs to shows and getting the materials. The product is designed to be produced from sheets of aluminum or similar metal. The form is stamped out of the sheet metal, and then bent into shape. I'm currently searching for manufacturers where I can discuss production, as well as consulting with my professors to discuss how I can approach these manufacturers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
