Say hi to 1Q
Wrapped in a 3" wood cube, 1Q is a powerful little Bluetooth sound system with a hand-crafted cabinet that produces warm, surprisingly natural sound. Integrated Bluetooth v2.1 provides a simple wireless audio link to nearly all smart phones, laptops and tablet devices. It's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but can easily deliver enough sound to fill some pretty large spaces.

The idea behind 1Q is simple: to bring the beauty, natural acoustic properties and inherent renewability of wood to wherever you and your mobile device wander: to the office, the back yard or simply from room to room. With its compact footprint, 30’ range and estimated 10+ hours of battery life, 1Q is quite versatile.
Where will you use 1Q? It’s really up to you!
1Q + 1Q = Stereo
Plug a 1Q into anther 1Q and you have yourself a 13 watt stereo! 1Q has a built in auto-switching capability to convert from mono in a single unit to stereo L & R with the addition of a second 1Q. Works great to add stereo sound to a desk top, laptop or a tablet for movies, music and more. Unplug it, and you have 2 stand alone mono systems for added flexibility.
1Q, U & the world
There are more than enough plastic sound accessories in the world today, most with a disappointingly short life. We chose wood for 1Q because it looks great, sounds awesome and is intrinsically renewable; we wanted to create a better sounding, lower impact, more valuable solution for your world of mobile audio devices. 1Q was designed to be an active part of your life for very long time.

Wood is awesome...
1Q's wood cabinet (over 85%) eliminates a lot of plastic, and provides a very rigid, 6 mm thick acoustic chamber that is ideal for sound reproduction. We have a lot of experience working with hardwoods & Bamboo, and put considerable effort into avoiding threatened or conflict-sourced species. With our Kickstarter tree planting program, the wood used on each 1Q will be replaced over 1000X through the Arbor Day Foundation and the US Forest Service. No matter how you look at it, wood is simply a great material for a sound system - especially when re-planting is built into the design from the very start.
You're looking at fresh, fully functioning, pre-production prototypes of 1Q in Walnut, Bamboo and Red Beech, which means the project is already tooled, fully functioning and ready for production. No major technical hurdles, few production challenges and most important - no 'vapor'. We've been working with our manufacturing partners in China on numerous projects successfully for over 5 years now; they're a great team and do awesome work. With your help on launching the first production run, 1Q will easily deliver well before the holidays.

1Q charges with a standard mini USB cable. Why not micro USB? - we chose the mini USB connector over micro USB for it's power handling capacity. Yes, it comes with a charger AND plug ends for the US, UK, EU and Australia - certified FCC, Ctick and CE... world-ready!
Yes, it will work with any device of any kind - Laptop, phone or tablet - with Bluetooth audio out capability. Bluetooth is a universal standard in that regard
While we are still tweaking it, it is currently 80Hz - 20kHz
Currently 3.7V @ 2300mAh - we are conservatively estimating 10 hours of play under average use.

Most small systems like this bury the battery in the housing, and either glue or solder it in place. We designed ours to be replaceable to reduce waste, but like an iPod or iPhone - it will need to be done by our technician.
Yes! 1Q automatically switches from mono to stereo left and right with the add-on of a second 1Q via a cable. Works great!
No, Bluetooth only allows a single transmitter device ID (ie: an iPhone) to connect with a single receiver device ID (1Q), but you can connect a second 1Q for stereo.

Simple answer - 1Q simply doesn't require all the ultra low power and high data transfer rate features of 4.0. Bluetooth devices are backward compatible, so there is no chance of obsolescence as you might expect in other protocols.
