New Add-Ons + Early Music + Skill Sneak-peek
Woah!! We're less than $1,000 away from our goal! Our target is just around the corner and we couldn't be more excited! It's absolutely mindblowing to see how far we've come. How far you've helped us come! A sincere, everlasting thank you to all our fans for the amazing support, we've got one last sprint until we can cross that finish line (and beyond?) together! :D
We've also seen some interest in additional add-ons, so take a look at the revised list below and see if there's anything new that catches your eye!
I'm also excited to be able to share a draft of a title theme for Wanderer done by our awesome composer Jonathan Geer:
The musical direction is something I can't wait to get further into, as like the game's visuals and design it will be taking inspiration from a wide variety of sources to create something very out of the ordinary. I really want the personality and background of each character to shine through in their musical themes, and for major moments in the story to be organically interwoven with the soundtrack, so it's something we'll be putting a lot of focus on as we begin to move into official development!
I also wanted to share a small preview of just a few of the combat skills some of your party members will be able to learn through the course of the game. As I touched on before, skills are what really make each character unique in battle, as each skill comes with it's own set of effects, upgrades, and a brief minigame that determines its success. In practice, they'll work very similarly to the special abilities in games like Paper Mario and the more recent South Park: The Stick of Truth, so if you're familiar with those systems you can expect a similar execution in Wanderer.
Welcome to Another World by Abrial Da Costa
If you know anything about our inspirations for Wanderer, you'll know why we have to give this awesome project a shout-out. The Digital Lounge, publisher of the brilliant 20th Anniversary Edition of Another World, has teamed up with Pix'n Love Editions to release an English version of Daniel Ichbiah's "Eric Chahi – Journey of a French video game creator", a comprehensive examination of legendary game developer (and personal inspiration) Eric Chahi's 30-year career. Put together from almost 15 hours of exclusive interviews with the man himself, and featuring concept art and behind the scenes documentation from games like Another World, Heart of Darkness, Future Wars, and From Dust, this looks like an absolute must have for any classic gaming enthusiasts out there! I really want to see this one succeed, so head over to their page and check it out!
Failsafe by Game Over
Failsafe is a first-person parkour adventure game taking inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki, Journey, and Shadow of the Colossus. And there's absolutely nothing about that I don't love the sound of! The story follows Isra, a young girl raised in a small, remote village on a wasteland of a planet as she bravely ventures out into the unknown, accompanied by XJ, her robot companion. Promising gameplay centered around large, open environments and an intuitive parkour system that allows them to be freely explored, and a narrative backed by a team of experienced writers and the voice talents of Ashly Burch and Dante Basco, Failsafe sounds like it could really turn out to be something special, so head over to their page and show some love! :)
