About

Hello Kickstarter Supporters! Let's Bring Back Old-Fashioned Ice Cream!

I believe the main purpose in life is to love the work you do, make people happy, and also be able to help others in your community find meaningful, interesting, and fun work!  I hope, through Carrie Hill Ice Cream, to make a great product and, at the same time, provide employment to people in and around Omaha at a good wage that allows them to enjoy life as well! It will be a challenge in today's economy, but it can be done!

I would like to start producing Carrie Hill Ice Cream in a commercial facility or rented premises - as it is a very high-quality product and I am sure that there will be grass-roots support for my project. The base for most of the ice cream is rich, full cream and fresh eggs - with all-natural ingredients added. Anyone who has tasted Carrie Hill Ice Cream raves about it!

It is ice cream like "Grandma used to make" without any chemicals. The full cream in the ice cream keeps it soft and scoop-able in any freezer and the taste is phenomenal. Just to name a few ingredients: I use 6 lbs of strawberries to make 3 gallons of strawberry ice cream and 1 1/2 lbs. of pistachios to make 2 gallons of pistachio. As you can see, it is a top-quality ice cream that puts a "spring in your step" at any age. I do not plan to make diet ice cream, as there are plenty of those in the supermarkets.

I believe many people just want old fashioned ice cream and nothing else. I have been making lemon and orange sorbet though if anyone would like a lighter treat. I also plan to get a true Greek culture from Greece to make Greek Yogurt using goat's milk from local Omaha farms in the future - and also use it as a base for real frozen yogurt later.

Risks and challenges

The challenges will be to find a food-safe facility that is reasonable in rent, and then market Carrie Hill Ice Cream. I plan to start by doing home deliveries, and social functions and then open a small ice cream shop that will also sell homemade dairy products in the future -- such as Greek yogurt made from real goat's milk.

Other challenges will be to pick new flavors -- and so far I have been asking people what they want and trying my best to produce it! It involves a lot of tasting and experimenting with small ice cream machines -- but well worth the learning experience!

Another challenge is that starting a small business in today's economy requires a lot of work, time, and effort -- and many times businesses fail! That's why I would like to start off small and build demand as more and more people get to know the product. But doing what you love, is not really work at all and I believe you can never really fail at anything unless you give up trying! And everybody likes super-good ice cream!
