1-week post Kickstarter Update
It has now been about a week since the Kickstarter closed, so, here's the first of your updates concerning what we've been doing. Warning, there's a lot of stuff here and most of it's pretty important. Apologies for the info dump.
Artwork and Writing
All interior artwork has now been assigned and contracted for all of the volumes. Mike Brodu has already turned in a preliminary sketch for the first of his stretch goal maps. Ross has wrapped a first draft of Cairn Cainen, which I'm editing in between working on my own draft of Manreia. We think we're in pretty good shape in this regard.
DriveThruRPG Contact Setup
To receive your backer reward PDF files, you'll need an account with DriveThruRPG. If you don't already have one, setting up an account is free. It does require an associated e-mail address, where we'll be sending you coupons. This doesn't have to be the same as your Kickstarter address, but we need to know what it is in any case.
In past Kickstarters we've had some issues (mercifully not many, but some) where backers didn't receive coupons from us. I think we've finally figured out the root cause of the issue. DriveThruRPG lets users assign contact options for publishers, so that they can reduce spam. Unfortunately, if we can't send you our updates, we also can't send you coupons. Which include the coupons that we send as Kickstarter rewards. So, we need you to make sure that you're letting our messages through.
To do that, please go here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/account_contact_options.php
You may need to log into your DriveThruRPG account on your way there, if you're not already logged in.
That should bring up a screen that looks similar to the screenshot below:
We'd ask that you please do the following:
1 - Select Melior Via from the Publisher drop down.
2 - Click Customize Selected Publisher. (This should cause the page to reload, now including Melior Via in the list of Publishers below, probably at the bottom.)
3 - Select "Yes" from the "Receive E-mails?" option next to the new "Melior Via" Row.
4 - Select "Save Changes"
When the page reloads, you should see that Melior Via is now set to "Yes" for receive e-mails. That lets us send you your coupons through the site.
Surveys and Add-ons
We're getting ready to send out our backer surveys, particularly so that we can get already existing PDFs out to you. In looking through backer reports, we noticed that not many backers at the $10 level and $60 level chose to add extras to their pledges. Because of that, we've already contacted those backers via messages. So, surveys for $10 and $60 pledge levels will not include questions about Add-Ons. (If you are a $10 or $60 backer and haven't responded to our Kickstarter message about Add-Ons, please do so at your earliest convenience.) We'll include survey questions about add-ons for backers at the $25 pledge level.
We've received some great feedback on Frost and Fang, but we want to make sure everyone has a chance to contribute. Please review that (link in update #1) at your earliest convenience and let us know any issues you encounter, that would be very helpful. We have a feedback deadline on this of Friday, February 5, 2016. After that, we'll be putting the ebook through final layout, with the intention of getting it out to you by the end of February.
We have a feedback deadline on the Discordian Sea material (link in update #10) at Friday, February 12, 2016. We're also setting a feedback deadline on the Outlands material (link in update #13) of Friday, February 19, 2016. We'd like to get those drafts safely complete so that they can go through layout sooner rather than later.
Updated Fan Witchbreed
Backers interested in additional Witchbreeds for their Accursed page, should note that Richard Woolcock (of Savage Stuff and one of our earliest backers) has updated his write-up of the Frost Giant Witchbreed. It's a very professional product and definitely worth checking out. Here's the direct link, but I'd encourage you to take your time and take a good look around his site if you haven't checked it out previously.
Olympus, Inc. Kickstarter
Our friends at Fabled Environments are currently funding a modern fantasy setting, entitled Olympus, Inc. The game is for Savage Worlds and does a brilliant job of integrating Greco-Roman mythology into an ultramodern, cyberpunk-esque setting. Further, John has been asked to write an adventure for the setting as one of the early stretch goals. Charles and Gilbert have developed a very cool setting and we encourage you to check it out.
They've posted a free preview up on DriveThruRPG - http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/172496/Olympus-Inc-Preview?affiliate_id=333550
The Kickstarter is at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1359478628/olympus-inc-a-savage-worlds-setting-book
That's it for now. Good gaming!
