About this project
The Fountain is a touching father-daughter story following filmmaker Callie Shanafelt's quest to understand her dad's childhood in a religious cult during the 1950's near Los Angeles. Shanafelt's grandparents followed Krishna Venta, a man claiming to be the second coming of Christ, until they were killed by suicide bombers at the cult he led in 1958. The film offers unique insight into why one couple rejected mainstream culture and the lasting effects of their choice on their children.
This half-hour documentary is finished but now it is time to get it out in the world. In order to screen the film publicly I need to pay about $600 for archival rights and I've already spent more than $600 applying to film festivals. So reaching this fundraising goal would help a lot with the costs.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
Music in the trailer is This Moment by Led to Sea.
