About

The Chronicles are making their 2nd record and need your help! In December of 2012, The Chronicles released their first studio album. It was self produced by The Chronicles and recorded and mixed by Bryan Brundige (trombonist). With this next album, they are trying to take it to the next level. Not only are they recording at White Lake Music and Post, but they are giving the "Producer" hat to Alan Evans (drummer/co-founder of Soulive). Alan Evans has worked on a lot of great records over the years, some of which are The Chronicles favorites. If you would like to know more about him, please check out his website: http://playonbrother.com

White Lake Music and Post is located in Colonie, NY and is one of the premier studios in the capital region. If you would like to find out more, please visit their website: http://whitelakemusic.com The group is slated to be in the studio on July 15, 16 and 17. They intend on releasing their album in October 2013.

The Chronicles are taking things old school and pressing the album to vinyl. An actual record has a very specific sound that you just can't get from your ipod or a CD -- and it sounds great! Plus, having a record in your hands gives the listener the sense that they actually own the album and is very appealing in the band's eyes. That being said, there will be no CD's sold for this release. Digital downloads will be available, and the Chronicles encourage its fans to buy and share their music with friends and family. This next album will have brand new songs that have not yet been played in public. There will also be a couple of special guests on the recording. The Chronicles intend on filming some of their studio experience and releasing it to certain kickstarter backers.

Thank you for taking the time to check out what the Chronicles are up to. There are several great rewards for your donations and the band intends on working hard to give you the best music they have to offer.

Risks and challenges

1. Studio Time - The Chronicles have the studio booked for a total of 24 hours and have to perform at their very best in the allotted time. If not, more studio time must be booked and the release of the album may be pushed back. The Chronicles do not want this to happen.

2. A lot of the initial costs are coming out of pocket. Booking the studio and Producer requires a 50% deposit. Luckily, there are 6 members in the group and there are some funds saved from previous shows.

3. Time Line - If the recording process runs smoothly and is accomplished within the expected timeframe, then the album must be mixed by the 2nd week in August. There should be no real problems with mixing the album by then. The mixing engineer will have 3 weeks to do so. Mastering is the next step and The Chronicles have given that process a 2 week window. If all is accomplished within the time frame, the album will be ready to ship to United Pressing for the delicate process of cutting vinyl. That usually takes 4-6 weeks production time. If any of the timeline gets pushed back, the actual album release will also have to be pushed back to November.

4. Marketing -- The Chronicles hope to market this release to a much larger audience nationwide. For instance, the album must be uploaded to all of the digital markets: iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon, etc. This all takes a lot of time (6-8 weeks) to actually become available online. The timing must be correct for the album to be digitally available as well as on record. The Chronicles may employ a PR company to handle all of this.

5. Keeping a positive attitude and having fun. This is one of the most important challenges met. Because the album is on such a delicate time line, The Chronicles must keep things rolling smoothly. The only way that that works, is by working together as a team, and having enough humor around to float a boat. The band should have no problems here. Having played and toured together for more than 2 years, The Chronicles always have a good time.
