A word from Wes & Tony:
An upbeat, well-intentioned chainsaw runs across the country to reunite with his human family, unaware that they fled because he's a dangerous and deadly pet.
Waynesaw is just a little creature who wants to love and help people but has no idea how much destruction he causes along the way. In that sense, isn’t Waynesaw as human as any of us? No. He is a chainsaw.
It's a game about childlike innocence brutally colliding with the harsh realities of the real world. Only in hindsight do we know we were a monster.
Comedic, stylized, cartoon violence fills the screen as the player feels the primal joy of being a barely-in-control fun-loving chainsaw. It’s if the Brave Little Toaster were a gas-powered implement of destruction.
Waynesaw is fast-paced, humor-forward, and embraces the idea that you are playing as an overly enthusiastic chainsaw. You collect nothing, and destroy everything in your path. You are the weapon.

While the game is free to download, we won't make you pay to play. We want to create diverse play, visual appeal, and big moments.
Gameplay is a top-down infinite runner isometric field where you navigate Waynesaw to hit victims and avoid obstacles. Victims include trees, birds, civilians, etc, and obstacles include rocks, fire hydrants, statues, and anything else that would void your chainsaw's warranty. Currently, the plan is for there to be three environments: The Redwood Forest, Area 51, and Big Bad City, but with stretch goals we could do Snowman Lake, Shopping Mall, and even chase the Devil around in Hell.
The player helps Waynesaw cluelessly do favors for terrible people. He helps a lumberjack cut down the redwoods, an FBI agent mow down some friendly aliens to hide the truth, and a corrupt real estate speculator knock down a few public parks.
If a player hits ten victims and no obstacles, Waynesaw will achieve a short “TURBOSAW” mode where more obstacles and victims are spawned, but he can easily blast through anything in his way.
The target finish date is October 2015. The target platform for this game is touch devices running both iOS and Android.

After making comics, videos, and pitches together for years, we're excited to work in a new format with some talented people. We feel like Waynesaw is a fun little dude who will make for an action-packed game that will also have some laughs. We're going to cram the game full of costumes, achievements, and characters to play to our strengths but also pick up some new skills along the way.
Production, Design, and Art Direction
We’ve been collaborating on projects for over eight years. Via AmazingSuperPowers.com, together we’ve created over a thousand online comics, dozens of videos, and tabled at conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con, Emerald City Comicon, and more. We’ve also pitched several projects to TV networks, and created a half-length internal pilot for Comedy Central. Wes is currently a graduate student at Columbia Business School, and Tony is currently a creator at Dorkly.com.
Jeff is a programmer with a master’s degree in computer science and a passion for making high quality applications. He has developed and shipped several successful products. He is passionate about games and will be the brave lead programmer on the project. He's currently living in Asia because he is more interesting than us.
Shane is an experienced game developer who has 14 years of game development under his belt and several shipped titles where he was the lead programmer, including Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 on consoles and the official Boxtrolls mobile game. Shane is radical and a pro.
Every backer receives a special code to unlock ALL characters and costumes in the game, an aggregate value of $20. In addition, it will include rewards that are Kickstarter Exclusive and will not be available after this campaign. We are first-time game developers, so come along for the ride as we learn about game development. Watch the stress age us before your very eyes, and watch us channel that stress into chainsawing things in half. As an example, in the first episode we’ll walk you through a Game Design Document and have a few panic attacks.
At the very end of the project, we’ll compile a digital production book of the entire process, including character designs, prototype screenshots, and even text conversations where we argue about the shading on an owl’s butt for several hours.
We will be producing an original soundtrack for the game (Artist TBD) and we’ll send you high-quality digital files of all the music created. Live the game as you listen on your headphones while you chainsaw things at home!

As a memento of this Kickstarter experience, get a 3D printed Waynesaw statuette! This solid figurine stands at 3” tall with each one individually and professionally printed from a custom Waynesaw design exclusively for this Kickstarter. It makes a radical desk ornament or an exciting new painful thing to step on.
Send us an object, be it an old diary, a beloved stuffed animal, or your shitty awful router, and we’ll make a video where we CHAINSAW IT IN HALF. Get closure by watching the object destroyed onscreen, or get a laugh because you think it’d be funny to chainsaw a big bag of gummy bears. Fine Print: You must cover shipping costs. Objects must contain minimal metal or glass. Objects must be approved by us before shipping. We are not liable for the destruction of objects (duh).
Collaborate with us to design and name a costume in-game! Dress Waynesaw after your favorite hobby, or insert your beloved dead pet into the game so Scruffy can live on forever. The limit is only your imagination and basic human decency.

Game development is crazy expensive. This total is from extensive research on what would be the most bare-bones budget we could have and still ensure successful delivery. Everyone involved is working at a steep discount because of their belief in the project and desire the bring Waynesaw to LIFE.
Our October 2015 release date is a very rough estimate, since there's a lot to consider when putting together this game. The scope of the project will be affected by the outcome of this Kickstarter and how quickly we can solve typical development hurdles. We will be communicative throughout the entire process, documenting every scrap of yanked hair and every small fire.
The bulk of the non-game rewards will be delivered much sooner than the game itself. We've already begun production on much of them, which means that you'll be able to pin Waynesaw posters on your walls as you dream of chainsaw-filled adventures to come.

Risks and challenges
Game development comes with inevitable speedbumps including surprise costs and delays. Because the majority of the people working on the project are first time game developers, we have worked to build a support network of experienced people that we can call upon for guidance and advice.
Overly ambitious goals are also a danger with game development, especially in concept stages, which is why we’re focusing on making a technically straightforward product that focuses on our strengths of fun characters and laughs galore, as opposed to an MMORPG with hundreds of characters and realistic dragon breeding.
