Congrats, Karl and Tom!
Not too many instances where I'm happy money is leaving my account, but this is one of those times! :D
Yeah, it was a nail-biting finish but I'm psyched to see it pull through for you guys! Congratulations and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
Now I've got something cool to look forward to. Yeah !!!
I have to say that the end of the campaign was kind of astounding. Only 80% funded the night before, yet the total steadily climbed the past few hours, with $3000 in the final hour, once the initial goal was already impressively reached. Amazing.
So happy fo you, Karl & Tom
Sweet! This awesome. Congratulations to you both. I am really looking forward to this this!!!
Holy. Crap. Go Karl and Tom!
I am so happy to see this kickstarter surpass its goal!! Congrats to Karl and Tom.
This has to be some kind of record for number of backers and amount backed on the final day!
At least for a project that, with 24 hours to go, still had yet to be funded! Congratulations gentlemen! So happy for you!!!
Onward to retina-burning ink!
Congrats!!! This has been pretty exciting today. I love it! But I think we still need to shoot for a hardcover!
Done and Done!! Congrats guys!
It's great that it's going to happen, but if we can get $1200 in the last 55 minutes we can make it a hardback.
Congrats on hitting the goal! Really looking forward to this!
There IS SUCH A THING as Section Zero. You did it! Congrats!
Yayyy! It is going to happen!
Just upped my pledge.
Sorry for the delay guys, was waiting on a wages cheque, Best of luck with the project!
Was Kurt Busiek channeling the Sam Waterson version of DCI Richard Helms from Oliver Stone's Nixon?
Either way, I'm in!
Pledge upped! Good luck down the stretch!
Karl Wow those pages went fast! Any chance you would do sketches of a requested character at the $150 level?
Karl and Tom,
I am afraid I am at my limit for a pledge, but I will keep spreading the word!
Thanks for considering putting up additional pages! I'm interested in any pages with multiple heroes (Batman Superman) or if you are considering any Marvel character pages.
Thanks again and good luck. We are close!
JOHN (Backer 841) and all the ships at sea: I'm adding a couple more pages of Superboy art shortly. If there's anything in particular that would entice you to up your pledge, let me know and I'll see what I can do!
Aaargh .... this is so tantalisingly close to the target. Wish I could raise my pledge again, but the budget just won't allow, sorry.
This is a great project and best of luck gentlemen! If there was anyway possible to offer other pages of original art I would up my pledge.
Just changed my pledge from $35 to $110. This book has to get made and you guys deserve to have it out there!
I chatted with Karl over at the Atomic Junk Shop about this project:
And now I'm a backer!
Will look at my budget to increase my pledge, sooooo close, I need this book ;)
You/we can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck guys :)
I picked up issue 1-3 in my local comic shop a few years ago, out of the dollar bin. I tried to find #4 only to be let down to learn that it didn't happen. I am glad you get to finish your work. I'm also glad I get resolution.
Has anyone branched to local shops in their area? The $100 retailer tier is a great wholesale deal and if all the backers tried to talk to one shop, it'd def produce a bump.
If every backer ups their pledge by one level then there is a good shot that this reaches goal; alternatively if we each share and can get one or two of our friends to back this even at the minimum level - then this will likely make goal...Let's help this along and either kick it up a notch, or share.
I am hopeful that this succeeds. It seems like it is a cool idea.
Best of luck- I really hope this Kickstarter succeeds. I've been wanting more Section Zero since I first read the book waaaay back when I was in high school. I just added to my original pledge. I hope it helps.
Even though there is no Section Zero trade (yet), I wrote about this campaign and two other comic book Kickstarters - Route 3 and Grond #3 - here:
Any chance of Tom putting up some more classic pages, maybe something from your Superman run?
I've contacted a couple awesome comic shops in my area (both highly trafficked stores and active on Facebook) to see if they would be willing to share the Kickstarter link. Hopefully, they will. It's not much, but if more backers can try to get their local comic stores to help spread the word, be it in store or online, it could at least add publicity in the final week. Cheers.
Over 40,000! We can do this!!!
Doug (and everyone else): I continue to look for new ways to get The Word out. Any leads or ideas you have, please let me know. Share the link with friends and family— the more eyes on this, the better chance we'll succeed. It ain't over 'till it's over, and it ain't over 'til SECTION ZERO is in print, as far as I'm concerned. I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and everyone who sticks it out through June 1st will not be disappointed. That's a promise.
I was an on-the-fencer waiting for this to be a sure thing, but I decided now was the time to throw my contribution on to help this project can become a reality. I'm sure there are other watchers, so backing now might inspire others to back the project.
If anyone knows of any good comic news outlets or comic message forums, please share this Kickstarter campaign.
Updated the "Gorilla Comics" entry on Wikipedia with this Kickstarter information.
Did anyone catch Kyoti's comment about the 2000 presidential election? What did Karl and Tom know?
Speaking of the preview, it's nice to see some of the Gorilla Comics founders supporting this project!
