Glass Lens With Each DIY Kit - Stretch Goal #3

If we can hit our final stretch goal of $38,000 (which is very doable), we will have "Freeplaytech" branded glass lenses manufactured, and one glass lens will be included with each Kickstarter DIY Kit.

If you are already backing one of our DIY Kits, my suggestion is that you share this campaign with anyone else that might be interested, so we can reach this stretch goal and give you this free bonus to your DIY Kit.

If you were waiting to back this campaign, consider this your final push.  After the Kickstarter campaign is over, we will probably make these glass lenses available for purchase, but I do not expect them to be included for free in future DIY Kits.

We have 2 days left on this campaign!  Let's hit it hard!  We appreciate all the support you guys have given us already!

Here are a couple mock-ups of what the glass lens might look like.

      Awesome, really can't wait...

I'm happy either way - I was just curious as in most of the build videos it's mentioned that the entirety of the screen isn't visable - I'm just psyched for this!

do you have the chance to decide the colour of the border of the glass lens or will it be black for sure? Perhaps a light grey (like the standard button colour) or dark grey might look quite valuable?

@Purity yes, I think you are likely correct, but I also think that you could get a little more wideness if you only modified the lens. The big difference would be if both were modified. Again, it wouldn't be centered well.

I will keep thinking about this, because there could be something here.

another drawback would be that you have to modify the display border of the shell as well or am I wrong?

Kurtis, this is a really interesting idea. I had only planned to put our logo on a regular lens. Now you've got me thinking about different ways that we could widen out. I will have to talk with the manufacturer and see if this is something that we can actually do. The main drawback of having it widened is that it would no longer be centered, because of how the LCD lays inside of the shell.

This will take some new thinking, but I really like the idea.

I saw it noted somewhere that the screen included in this project is slightly larger than the old GBA screen - will this new glass screen lens be designed to make use of the full screen real estate? Or is there an engineering issue with that I'm missing?
