Schneebles are fiesty little creatures that live in an area of the Mid-Realms called The Dry Heaps. They are known to eat everything and anything, and they pretty much eat all the time. While that normally makes them pests, there are times when they can be quite useful. Need to clear a field? Schneebles. Need to remove a house that fell over in a storm? Schneebles. Need to get rid of a massive statue of a recently disgraced local hero? You guessed it, Schneebles.
They are so well known in the Dry Heaps, that the ruler of the area, Ploogak the Conqueror, had his #2, The Gringe Commander, create items for tourists that feature the adorable and quite dangerous Shneeble.
There are Schneeble T-shirts, Schneeble eye patches for visiting pirates, there’s even a Schneeble micro-brew. But Gringe Commander's most popular creation was Schneeble, the card game. Now for the first time, this game is being offered to the inhabitants of Earth, and at a price that would make a Grilbus blush!
Schneeble is a trick-taking game that was inspired by the annual Schneeble rodeo – when schneeble wranglers head out to catch wild Schneebles. The trick (ha!) for a schneeble wrangler is to return with just the right number of Schneebles, not too few, and definitely not too many!
Schneeble adds new twists to the trick-taking genre in a super-elegant way ensuring a life-time of replayability. The game has been played for more than 20 years with friends, neighbors, random gamers, retail store owners, game designers, and family. Now we're ready to share it with the rest of you at a very affordable price thanks to the magic of Kickstarter.
Behold! Our interns made this cool learn-to-play video! You really need to play Schneeble to understand the awesomeness, but the video does a good job of teaching the rules. (note: The images in the video feature non-final cards - the final game will look a little different.)
The art for Schneeble comes from the game Guardians, a TCG Luke and Jay (the owners of Fun to 11) both worked on in the early 1990's. Since the art was the motivation for the game design, we decided to ask Don Maitz and the family of the late great Keith Parkinson for permission to use the original art in our game. They were very gracious and said yes, making the game beautiful as well as fun. If you want to check out more of Don or Keith's art, check out the links. We are ridiculously fortunate to have the Art of these Hugo and Chesley award winning artists on our game.
"Its amazing how something so simple can be so much fun. This game is easy to pick up, fun to play and has the potential to be addictive as hell. Can't wait to get my own copy" - Charles Palmer, Professor of Game Design/Development Harrisburg University
"Schneeble takes trick-taking back to basics, focusing on simple rules to create a fresh play experience. Don't be fooled: Its simplicity is the source of great player interaction and its strongest asset. It proves that less is often more." - Chris Zinsli, Cardboard Edison
"My biggest complaint about trick taking games is that too often, hands just play themselves. Schneeble's genius is the arbitrarily assigned number of tricks you have to win; how in the world can you win that many tricks with this hand of cards?" - Mike Mullins, Designer (6 published titles including Bottom of the 9th).
"I love this game and want all the plushies that will come with it!" - Michelle Flamm, LA Area Game/System Designer (who is sadly misinformed about the availability of plushies).
"The artwork and unique humor of Guardians always separated it from the pack. I'm so excited to both see such a terrific IP re-emerge into the gaming space and also to unleash the fury Schneekind upon the public. I hope the world enjoys the Schneebles as much as they will enjoy devouring it." - Nick Parkinson, Executive Producer, Jam City
"Schneeble is the fastest trick-taking game to play and teach, with more fun surprises than Hearts and Spades." - Jay Treat, Game Designer, Merchants of Araby
"I had so much fun I think scneebled myself" - Peter Ettinger, Luke's casual-gamer brother-in-law
Schneeble is unreasonably close to our hearts. We've already committed to printing the cards on top-quality playing card stock, printing the rules and box in full color, and we're including dice that are just the right size. Because of this, our desire to keep the price low, and the unique circumstances surrounding Schneeble (see main video) we are not going to be doing any stretch goals. (If it makes you feel better, imagine that upgraded card stock!, full color rules!, thicker box material!, and upgraded dice! were all stretch goals that we already achieved... ;) )
Even without stretch goals, you should still tell your friends about Schneeble — because it's is an affordable fantastic game and you are an awesome gamer.
If you don't see your country listed in the backing area, contact us and we'll see what we can do to add your country.
If you are a retailer who wants to carry Schneeble, please contact us about that as well.
At Fun to 11, we believe that sharing experiences with people face-to-face makes the world a better place. We spend our time making tabletop games to challenge the mind and create joy. We work with people we like and make the games we want to make. We hope you like them too.
Risks and challenges
The risks here are minimal. The files for Schneeble are actually at a printer right now. There is always a chance that a weather crisis gets in the way or one of us gets hit by a bus, but Fun to 11 has a stellar reputation for delivering our Kickstarters on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
