I began shooting footage for the DVD in the early spring of this year, and plan to finish shooting the last footage in late fall. This should allow for the DVD to be released in early December.
There will be around 35 different plant profiles, some containing just one species and others multiple species. I will show close ups of the various parts of the plants at different stages of growth and show potential lookalikes. Each profile will include some of the more important identifying features. These segments will also discuss harvest, preparation, and ecology, as well as mentioning other medicinal and utilitarian properties of the plants.
Other than the music (which will be written and preformed by excellent local musician Douglas Thomas), I will be responsible for creating the entire DVD.
These are some of the rewards available, see the side bar for more details.
Thanks for your support,
Nathan Carlos Rupley
Risks and challenges
The primary risks and challenges that are part of this project are the need to be in the field shooting footage as each plant goes through it's different stages of growth, and the time required to edit all of the footage.
Since I spend a lot of time foraging already, this issue just means that I need to continue to bring my equipment with me at all times. The editing will be time consuming, but the closer to the release the colder and shorter the days will be. This means I will have more time available to be indoors.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
