The 11th SNOB Film Festival is Concord NH's own local film fest & highlights films from the area and around the world. Nov 8th-11th
We're very excited to announce that the 11th Annual SNOB (Somewhat North Of Boston) Film Festival will be held on Thursday November 8th – Sunday November 11th at Red River Theatres in Concord, NH.
We hope that you will be there to join us and be part of this great event!
We have received a record number of films this year and have chosen sixty-eight films that we think the greater Concord NH Area audience will enjoy. Films range from 90 seconds to 90 minutes; from directors as close as 1 mile, as far away as 10,000 miles and everywhere in between. There are comedies, dramas, documentaries, and animations.
Thirty plus filmmakers are planning to be in attendance to talk about their films and answer questions. There will be great interaction from film viewers and filmmakers.
SNOB is a 100% volunteer organization. All volunteers, staff, and committee positions are non-paid. All of the money raised goes directly to the festival. This goes into the cost of our world-class venue, accommodations for filmmakers, special events, and most of all marketing. We rely on sponsors to help fund the festival rather than increasing the modest ticket prices.
We are over two-thousand dollars short of this year’s budget. Sponsorship has decreased this year. That is why we are asking you to help make this event possible.
Some of the highlights of the 2012 SNOB Film Festival include:
Thursday Night – Opening Reception: The film The Love of Beer with craft beer tasting before and female brewers’ panel after. (Included with passes but special ticket required)
Friday & Saturday Lunches – “30 Minute Movies”: Stop in for a bit and watch a quick film.
Friday Family Night – Starting at 6 pm: A block of short comedy films that is suitable for the whole family.
Friday Late Night – SNOB X-Treme: Stay out late to watch SNOB’s “Twisted Tales” A group of short suspense-thrillers that will make you squirm in your seats. Stick around after for the zombie comedy / horror film Juan of the Dead.
Saturday Morning Kids Films – KNOB (Kids North Of Boston): Featuring films made by local kids and some shorts by adult filmmakers that are geared to kids. Admission is only $1.
Saturday Filmmaker Event: Saturday morning meet-up with Matt Newton from the NH Film and TV Office and Daniel Be’rube’ from Boston Creative Pro User Group. In the afternoon there will be an “Open Mic / Projector event where filmmakers can share what they are working on or toss out ideas on new projects.
Saturday Night Feature Film: Catch the film Liberal Arts written, directed, and starring Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother)
Sunday Night – Closing Awards Event: After a long weekend of intense dramas, laugh out loud comedies and thought provoking documentaries, you can relax with some live music by Jeff Rapsis and the silent Buster Keaton film Sherlock Jr. Following this we will give out awards to the winning filmmakers.
…And great short and feature films all weekend long.
As you will see the end date of the kickstarter campaign is one week after the festival ends. We are taking a leap of faith that this festival will reach its goal. We are giving those in attendance a chance to donate if they had a great time and want to increase our amount to provide seed money for The 2013 SNOB Film Festival, pushing us beyond our goal of $2,012.
We hope you are able to donate a few dollars to this great community event and see you at the 2012 SNOB Film Festival on November 8th-11th at Red River Theatres in Concord, NH.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The SNOB Film Festival is a smaller film festival with about 2,000 people in attendance over the weekend. Our goal is to bring films to NH that people wouldn't typically see. We find lots of great independent films from the area and around the world to show. If you read the names you probably would not know many of the films or filmmakers. However, SNOB provides an outlet for these filmmakers to show their work and a place for viewers to see different, non-Hollywood films. Some of the filmmakers from past years have gone on to produce many other project that Hollywood, TV, and cable have picked up. We feel that truly non-corporate independent film festivals like SNOB are the backbone for these filmmakers to succeed. Over 11 years ago SNOB was started as a joke... "Yes there's culture Somewhat North Of Boston." ...And has grown to be a cultural event for the area. We are tying very hard to keep this event alive. Every dollar count. Money is used to bring filmmakers in and provide rooms for them over the weekend. This is a big part of the festival; the filmmakers interaction. The more money we raise the more filmmakers we can bring in. We have a world class venue that has been highlighted around the country as a top small community theater. However, this comes at a price. And lastly we need to build an audience... Not to raise money. You will see our ticket prices are lower than most others at only $5. We want to build an audience to experience the culture of the film festival.... To be a part of the interaction with the filmmakers... To experience films that they will never otherwise see. We are short on money this year. Therefore, the filmmakers and the film viewers are going to miss out on this local cultural event, unless we can raise the funds through Kickstarter.
