Stretch Goals & New Pledges

Posted by Shane Matthew Murphy (Creator)

Hello everyone!

My apologies for the lack of updates. Between work, school and project promotion it's been a busy couple of weeks! I have to say, this has been such an overwhelmingly positive experience so far. It's really amazing to see so much interest from such a variety of people, and to hear some of your personal stories and connection with what I'm doing. I look forward to hearing many more! :)

You may notice that I've added the first stretch goal to the project. BIRDLAND IN TECHNICOLOR has been a goal of mine since well before the project launched and is something I would love to see become a reality. It is somewhat ironic that I chose to draw perhaps the most colorful species on the planet entirely in black and white!  Though I am pleased with the resulting incongruity, I believe the full color special edition will make for a truly lush and unique way of experiencing this story.

Along with this stretch goal I have made some updates to project pledges. Per request, I have opened up three more chances at the BIRDS OF A FEATHER pledge option. I have also added two new pledges the project.

THE BIRDS OF BIRDLAND is an original rendering of any character appearing in BIRDLAND #1 as they appear in our world, drawn in a 19th century naturalist illustration style on aged, 'historic' paper. These are already selling fast!

A BIRDS EYE VIEW is a behind the scenes mini-comic detailing the process of creating BIRDLAND #1, featuring never before seen images, character studies and alternate pages.

I think that these will be fun and interesting additions to the project and I look forward to working on them!

A note on the A BIRDS EYE VIEW pledge: Those who have already pledged $40 or more and would like the behind the scenes mini-comic included in your reward, simply add a shipping fee to your existing pledge ($3 domestic, $10 international) and I will send the book free of charge.

I plan to be more of a presence here once the summer semester ends next week. I will be posting more updates as well as talking with those of you who have chosen any original artwork or character related rewards about your choices, so start thinking about what you are looking for! Bird species, film scene, etc... I'm excited to begin working on these with you! :)

Thank you again for all of your support and interest!
