“Illuminating Essence 2014” - will be a gallery show of legacy-quality portraits of women who have struggled with terminal illness; a personal gift of healing, through realizing the beauty that remains within them. Being ultra-sensitive, I have the ability to see people to a depth that I don’t think they see in themselves. I’m asking you to support this upcoming event!
Many women think that the love and beauty that will save them is at least an arm’s length away. They feel pressure to look and live like celebrities. I have felt deeply and understand the inner suffering that many women carry, and when you add illness to that; a broken body, for some of us, it’s an incomprehensible despair.
When I decided to become an artist and really look at people, I started to see beauty and dignity in every single person. It has been my journey to see people the way God, or the Infinite, sees them.
Tara Hardy is one of many women who has struggled with terminal illness. “Every time I pass by the painting [Melinda] did of me, I feel better and more beautiful; I’m not used to thinking of myself this way. If I had known I was going to be this beautiful, growing up would have been easier.” In response seeing their own beauty, I notice a breathing that is more whole and a “light in their eye”…
This is my aim—to show people in a true light. A real painting is a living document. I will give these individual portraits to each woman, for them and their families long after they’re gone. I want for anyone who knew that woman, to walk by her portrait and remember her exactly as beautiful as she always was.
I know “Illuminating Essence 2014” will inspire more healing, more joy. For me, I hope to feel the satisfaction of using my talent and my life to its highest expression.

Risks and challenges
Money is the biggest challenge. Spreading awareness is also vital; we just aren't bombarded with advertisements about how good art can rearrange a person or add to our quality of life. Now, if I could offer to save you 14% or more on car insurance, you wouldn't be reading this and we wouldn't be asking for your help.
