About this project
Alchemy. Magic is Real. is a board game for 8yrs +. 2-4 players.
(8 players is in the stretch goals )
Are you looking for a quest game that, unlike others that feature war and dominion-over-others, invites players to explore the natural world? This game is not overly complicated and game play runs 40 minutes - 1.5 hours depending on the complexity you choose in the quest.
Then Alchemy. Magic is Real. is for you! One quest is drawn and all players complete the same quest. There is an extra helping of autonomy in the game as you decide your path and plan for winning. Collecting ingredients and magic stones, creating magical abilities and overcoming negative situations are the main processes in the game. After you have everything on the quest card you roll the dice for the center of the board. The first one there wins a gold coin and becomes The Alchemist.
The $45. price is half what the game will sell for retail. I am offering everyone who supports the campaign this deal.
The designs are finished, game play thoroughly vetted and manufacturing quotes are in. To produce the game in the US will cost a little more than $25,500 USD for printing and assembling all the parts. The sets of expansion cards are finished with more outlined. Shipping is planned for the last part of November (In time for the holidays) December as the latest shipping date.
To manifest magic/synergy you must synthesize power + intention + focus.
There are a lot of quest games out there. And I've played them. Most deal with war, weapons, and dominion over others/territory. What I found missing was an interactivity with other players in the game. The stories in Alchemy's situation cards draw other players into your draw and moves.
In the box: The full color game board is 18x18" it contains 8 decks of 36 cards each + 12 quest cards. All cards are 2x3" with rounded corners, 300+ magic stones, 4 Trays, 4 metal colored player tokens and 5 winning brass coins and instruction page. The idea that you actually get to keep the gold coin you win at the end of the game allows for players to collect them for tournaments. (More coins may be purchased as your game runs out of coins.)
Strategy for the game reminds me of one of my favorite games—Mahjong. Where, as you draw cards and collect ingredients & magic stones, your game play may change.
Incorporated in the ingredient cards are real photography of herbs, crystals, rocks, minerals, symbols and their magical attributes. This allows players an educational opportunity to learn about our Earth, but also a way to create higher levels in quests.
Card sets, new quests, cooperative game play quests, more coins, and converting the game from 4 to 8 player with 8 tokens and 8 trays.
+ more expansion sets planned as you can add cards to the game.
What players are saying on their feedback sheets:
"Exciting and engaging, loved the pictures." Preteens
"Totally kept our attention, loved it. Thanks for letting us play!"
Regular gamers who gave up a Saturday night of Munchkin
"I loved this game. Hurry up and put it out there so we can buy it."
Adults playing in a brew pub.
I'll have more player testimonials after the groups below finish.
More videos coming soon. Have an appointment with 3 groups at a gaming bar - will shoot a video a full game play through.

Risks and challenges
The reason I wanted to use Kickstarter to raise funds for the mass production was to gauge interest and pre-sell games. I've had people ask me why I didn't just fund the project myself. I really wanted to produce the game with sales. It feels right. So I am offering kickstarter backers 1/2 off the retail cost of the game. I've been a wholesaler for about 10 years now with many contacts in the manufacturing of any type of promotional item. I've sourced all the pieces separately and come up with the exact total needed to produce 1000 games. If my stretch goals are all reached plus some - I'll manufacture more. I'm so excited you are here considering helping me get to the goal line - and know you'll enjoy playing the game.
Thank you! I appreciate YOU.
