The show opens on Thursday, November 13 at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee, and it runs through Sunday, January 4. $8000 will pay to print, mount, frame and ship 22 Blood Rescue pieces to the museum.
I made Blood Rescue to advocate for the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act. This Act will ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption; and it will ban the transportation of horses for purposes of slaughter for human consumption. Veterinarian medications make horse meat dangerous for anyone, and catastrophic for pregnant women's unborn fetuses and nursing mother's infants. You can read more about it here.
Hey, I'm an artist, and I believe a powerful visual experience can change hearts and minds. I want to reach all the people who don't know what's been going on, I want to tell this story.
The Blood Rescue Banner Roll
In addition to the show, I'm going to produce the Blood Rescue Banner Roll. This will be a literal banner two feet wide with the winning image across the top and your name, my name, and all the names of supporters at the $5 level and above printed there on the banner, as long as it takes. One copy will hang in the main museum gallery during the show.
With enough funding, five more copies of the Blood Rescue banner will be made to present to five acting members of Congress, thanking them for their service and asking for their support to move the SAFE Act forward from their committees to the House and Senate floors for votes.
First, to Senator Mary Landrieu and Representative Patrick Meehan (Landrieu and Meehan introduced the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act into the House and the Senate.)
Then, to Representative Fred Upton (Chair of the House Commerce Committee), Representative Rick Crawford (Chair of the House Livestock Committee), Senator Tom Harkin (Chair of the Senate Health Committee)
I have contacted all five members of Congress, they know what we are going to do. In September and October before the show, I will run Facebook ads in their congressional districts urging their constituents to get the SAFE Act passed.
Thank You for participating, I have several unique reward levels available, ranging from one of the original 22 pieces used in the Blood Rescue show, to an all expenses paid trip to Nashville for the opening of the show in November. Please note: each image has a number associated with it. You can see them on the numbered thumbnail below, or click my website, use your right arrow key to scroll through. I will ship any one to you when the show closes in January. Click here to see which pieces from the show are still available.
There are three award level sizes: 24x36 for $100, 30x45 for $250, and 40x60 for $400. These are at or below their cost to produce. I can do this because I haven’t yet released this work to galleries. Whether you are looking to buy one of the 22 pieces displayed at the show, or have one of the images custom printed, you will need to know its number.
Make your selection from the numbered thumbnails you see below (keep scrolling down until you come to it), and then scroll down on the right to find your piece. Each one you receive will be numbered from an edition of 3 or 11, depending on size. So… you know, don’t wait. Jump on what you want.
Or, you can order any piece you like in any size you like. The prices are a bit higher, but still below gallery, and it’s your choice until any given edition sells out. With this reward, you don't have to wait until the show closes in January. I will ship these to you in November.
There are other award levels you can see on the right column. Please enjoy your visit here! And keep on scrolling down, there's more to see!
Risks and challenges
Because the Museum show will remain open until January 4, 2015, delivery on the one of a kind pieces from the show will not be made until the month of January, 2015, after the show closes. Delivery on the individual order pieces will be made during the month of October, before the show opens. The artist Eric L Hansen has a successful history http://bit.ly/1pjwPRm of meeting museum and gallery show deadlines dating back 10 years. We anticipate meeting this schedule.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
