About this project
It's for our future: school kids learning about the history of Manhattan and the Upper West Side, civic engagement, architecture, you name it!
It's for New Yorkers: exercise bragging rights about this one-of-a-kind neighborhood, or explore an otherwise unknown corner of the city for the first time.
It's for tourists: interact with the history and architecture of the city in a way conventional guidebooks just don't allow.
It's for EVERYONE who finds themselves on New York City's Upper West Side of Manhattan.
LANDMARK WEST! wants to take the amazing history surrounding us and put it all together into the first ever iPhone app tour of the Upper West Side. It's an exciting new way to experience architecture and history! And with your help, we can do it!
We've recruited the best of the best, Prof. Andrew S. Dolkart, Director of the Historic Preservation Masters program at Columbia University. He'll be kicking off our iPhone app project with a tour exploring the iconic Central Park West, and its picturesque brownstone blocks. But that's where our know-how ends.
With your help, we can bring professional iPhone app developers and programmers on board to make sure we do this right! These tech whizzes will advise LW! on iPhone formatting, functionality and content. All donations will go towards paying for professional developers to create and assist LW! in developing and launching our iPhone walking tour app.
If we meet our goal, we'll dance with glee all up and down Central Park West! If we exceed our goal, we can start planning for the second installment in what we hope to be a series of LW! iPhone apps featuring the architecture and history of Manhattan's Upper West Side.
So please help! No pledge is too small!
LANDMARK WEST! is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. If you would like a letter recognizing your donation for tax purposes, please let us know!
