About this project
AHHH!!!! We made it! Thank you! Thank you, thank YOU!
Whew, ok. Wow. Guys, this is crazy. The support we have received thus far has been overwhelming and humbling. We could not have done it without you, and you are all bonafide rockstars in my book. When we started this project we never imagined such a community would evolve around us, and our desire to share this story. Needless to say, we are incredibly grateful for each and every single contribution. Jane has been a long journey for us, and thanks to all of you, we see the end in sight!
Having reach our goal, we are well on our way to finishing the film - knocking out all our post-production needs at DuArt NYC, titles and poster design with Objective Subject, working with our amazing composer and sound designer... our director of photography is even doing our VFX! And our colorist's name is Jane. Serendipity.
And here's the especially crazy part. There are still 7 days left!
There are still a lot of costs that additional donations would cover - so please help us by continuing to spread the word.
... if additional funds are raised, what do they go towards?
WELL, since you asked:
- Our composer can hire additional musicians to create a richer soundtrack.
- We can get the international license and sync rights for that perfect (but just out of reach) song for the end credits.
- We can create a digital cinema package (DCP) - the required deliverable for festivals to screen the film.
- It will allow us to fund marketing materials that were previously out of reach. Printing postcards, posters, press kits... I'll tell you guys a secret - we've already started working on a trailer! ;)
It’s incredible that we’ve reached this point, and we are truly grateful for the support. Keep helping us spread the word, and we will be able to achieve much more than previously thought. I'm so excited for this film to reach the people we made it for in the first place!
lots of love,
JANE WANTS A BOYFRIEND is a new feature film, inspired by real life events, about a young woman's pursuit of love and the world that didn't see it coming. The story centers around JANE (Louisa Krause), a young costume intern in New York, working on a theater piece starring her older sister BIANCA (Eliza Dushku). Funny, shy, and candid - Jane is living on the Autism spectrum, a woman who faces unique challenges in her everyday ambitions. As the opening night of the play approaches, and Jane goes on some very eye-opening first dates, we learn that - although we've all been dealt our own obstacles, some more challenging than others - at the end of the day we all deserved to be loved.
This feature represents writer Jarret Kerr and director William C. Sullivan's third collaboration. As recently announced on Deadline.com, the powerhouse cast includes Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Bring It On, Buffy), Louisa Krause (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Gabriel Ebert (Tony Award Winner for "Matilda" on Broadway), as well as Polly Draper (thirthysomething, Side Effects), and Amir Arison (Blacklist, Homeland, Girls). Shot over 26 days in the NYC boroughs, this passion project from script to editing has been a labor of love for over two and a half years.
While principal photography is wrapped, we are in the finishing stretch of post-production. With festivals deadline's quickly approaching, the next and final steps: adding in the amazing score, licensing music, film festival submissions, color correction, sound mixing, are all at arms reach - but we need your help! Every single one of your donations will make a huge difference. Hopefully we can entice you with some of our rewards!
Want a sneak peak? Well you're in luck! Check out Amir Arison and Gabriel Ebert in action right here!
Still on the fence? Well, Gabe has a message for you.
Thanks for all your help and love,

Risks and challenges
Fortunately enough for us, the physical production part of the process is finished. We've shot all our footage, packed away all our cameras, and sent our talented cast and crew home. The film is in the can, but we haven't quite crossed the finish line. Post-production is where all that mountain of footage gets turned into the film you see projected at the theaters - without this last leap, we're as good as sitting ducks.
So to make post-production possible, we've reached out to our talented cast and production team, to devise the rewards we have before you. They vary from dvd's, signed head shots, personalized thank you videos, to coffee with the stars themselves. We understand that as backers, you are donating the hard money you've earned, and in that capacity - we are morally attached to making sure every single last reward reaches its backer. It's only fair, and it's the little we can return in exchange for your generous contributions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
