About this project
HEY! IT'S FIVE DAYS AND COUNTING! I'M SO PLEASED BY THE BACKING SO FAR. AMAZED REALLY. AND VERY GRATEFUL. BUT THERE'S STILL A LITTLE TIME TO GO BEFORE WE HIT THAT MAGIC NUMBER. FIVE MORE DAYS. IF YOU MAKE IT TO THE SITE THIS WEEK PLEASE PASS THE WORD. MANY THANKS. DANNUL.
Hi my name is Dannul Dailey. I'm the writer/director of the 21 Club.
The 21 Club is a fifteen minute short independent film shot in a film noir style. Set in a futuristic world where man's incessant need for aggression has led to legalizing the hunting of humans. Two ill fated lovers meet in a beautiful, timeless hotel (www.Hotelsorrento.com) for a night of passion. But secrets are revealed and ambition is betrayed. And deceit is the name of the game.
I'm asking for your support to help COMPLETE the project. Like many other projects on this site, everyone involved has been gracious enough to DONATE their services...everyone, from makeup to DP to the actors, are seasoned professionals. Unfortunatly no one is getting paid! I would love to pay them as they can and do get paid well for their skills. But...this is a limited budget. I can't stress this enought because certainly they don't HAVE to do these projects. We all do them because projects like these are labors of love that give all of us the opportunity to work on our CRAFT, and deepen our SKILLS. That's why we do it for free.
But we need your support to FINISH the project. Our services may be free but the tangibles still cost money, like editing, sound recording, food for the crew (most important), and money to market and send it off to film festivals across the country. Anything we receive above our funding goal will continue to go directly to the project.
I have some, I think, really exciting incentives to offer listed to the right including a partial scholarship to THE FILMSCHOOL in Seattle WA. for the 2010 sessions. The FILMSCHOOL (www.thefilmschool.com) is a three week intensive screenwriting course, of which I'm an alumni and this story is a product of. That's a $1000.00 value off an experience that will forever change the way you look at and write for film.
And finally, I want to SINCERELY thank YOU! It's support from people like you that allow independent filmmakers like myself and my crew to take their ideas and make them real. In a time when our country is in a deep recession, with government, state and local arts grants shriveling up...it's DIRECT support from you that make a REAL difference. And know that your contributions go directly to this project. In a way, for all who DO donate, you are, in essence, producing this project and your name will be proudly displayed at the end of the film, no matter how small the contribution. And really it's not HOW much you give, but how MANY people you can help us reach. So if the time is not right for you to support us now...please send this link along to your friends and encourage them to send it along to their friends. Who knows...maybe for someone else...it will be their chance to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
