Good Ol’ Freda Has Been Granted Permission to Use Original Beatles Music!

Hello To Our Good Ol' Freda Backers,

We have some great news for you!

In an unprecedented development, our independent film has been granted official permission to use four original Beatles songs in Good Ol’ Freda!

The tracks are:  I Saw Her Standing There;  I Will;  I Feel Fine;  and Love Me Do.   Director Ryan White has been negotiating
with Apple Corps for usage rights for over a year.

The news broke today in The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone also carried the story.  Ryan expressed our utmost gratitude to Apple Corps. The fact we received the authorization is a clear testament to Freda Kelly and her loyalty to The Beatles.   In our recently issued press release, Ryan said:

"This is the story of a teenage girl who spent a decade of her life fully devoted to four boys she believed in. Fifty years later, she's still as devoted as ever and has never let them down. There is no better and more special way to tell her story than by doing it with original Beatles tracks, so we're thrilled that Apple Corps has made a rare exception."

For an independent film
to obtain permission to use four original masters is a remarkable achievement and honor for us and for Freda.  Good Ol’ Freda will be one of very few films ever to get approval to use original Beatles masters.

We want to thank each and every one of you for helping make this happen.  We could not have done this without you!

The World Premiere of Good Ol’ Freda is scheduled for March 9, 2013 at the prestigious South x Southwest Film Festival.   It will also be screened during the South x Southwest Music Festival. Additionally, our film has been invited to ten more festivals which will be announced soon!  Be sure to check www.goodolfreda.com and the Good Ol’ Freda Facebook page for updates, and please join our newsletter!

Now that we have been given permission to use Beatles original music, we must fundraise to pay for it so, with hat in hand, we come to you for support once again.  Please consider making a fully tax deductible donation to Good Ol’ Freda via The Southern Documentary Fund to help us pay for The Beatles songs.

We’re still hoping the DVDs will be available around Summer 2013.

Many thanks to all of you and especially to Freda Kelly and The Beatles!

With gratitude,

      Stephanie,

What a remarkable and inspiring filmmaking career you have had! We are in awe and appreciate you taking the time to write to us.

We are trying to raise $75,000 to pay for a myriad of post-production costs including the music. As mentioned in our update, tax deductible donations can be made via The Southern Documentary Fund at http://southerndocumentaryfund.org/projects/good-ol-freda/ As I'm sure you well know, every donation really helps.

We're looking forward to seeing Night Bird Song when its released! Warm regards to a fellow filmmaker!
