I moved to Los Angeles in the 70's when I got out of the US Navy to be in the entertainment business. First I was an actor on "Good Times" and "Chico and the Man" but never got the big break I was looking for. I started singing for tips outside the La Brea Tar Pits and Hollywood Bowl and I've been singing every night of my life since the 80's to support myself.
I tried to record albums before, but no good record producers like Tony Newton ripped me off and it never got made. Eventually Tim and Eric saw my Public Access show and started to hire me. I wrote the words and music to "Salame" and "Puberty" and the others, but Warner Brothers now owns them. I started doing music with a band on my own, and I want to make a recording as good as what was on Cartoon Network.
I like and perform all types of music, but right now I want to make a punk rock album. It seems young people are more receptive to that kind of music and they liked it when I did it on the tour. I did new songs about Betty White and La Rent, who is an alien who doesn't want me to look at porn, and a whole bunch of other ones I want to get recorded.
I've never been to a real recording studio. All my other music was recorded at people's houses or on bad old equipment. I need to raise funds so I can get a recording done professionally with people who know what they are doing so it sounds good. They tell me I need not only recording, but also mixing and mastering. I also want to have the records printed on vinyl so that they sound really good.
I've struggled and faced rejection my whole life so that I can do art that brings people happiness. I want to do a good job on this album so that I can keep traveling around and meeting fans. I want to keep sharing my experiences with new people.
Thank you very much and Salame,
David Liebe Hart
