About this project
WHAT IS THE LAST DAYS OF DANGER?
The Last Days of Danger is an 8"x10", 56-page library-bound hardcover book on high-quality heavy stock paper. Containing 23 full color illustrations, reviews of the 23 spy films they are inspired by, and notes on each film, it also includes bonus supplemental drawings just for the collection and a foreword by the Nerdist podcast James Bonding. Originally created for the #decembond project and illustrated and written by Sean Dove.
HEY THAT’S ME!
I’m Sean Dove, an illustrator and designer with 10 years of experience making stuff for comics, toys, and gallery shows. I spend most of my days helping other people make awesome stuff, last December I had a break in my schedule and decided I needed a personal project that would keep me busy, so I started #decembond. The idea for #decembond was that I would watch all 23 James Bond films, write reviews, and draw an illustration inspired by each film over the month of December (December + Bond). It was a fun project and people seemed to be really excited about it. Now I want to collect the project into a nice 56-page hardcover book.
I grew up watching the Bond and spy films and they have always been something I’ve been interested in: exotic locations, cool cars and specialized gadgets – what kid wouldn’t love that stuff? They are the perfect films to watch while spending time with the family when I’m home for the holidays. But it had been awhile since I’d sat down and really watched them as films. It was really fun to really immerse myself and see the history of the series as whole. It also gave me an opportunity to explore and take chances in my drawings, and grow in my technique.
In addition to the very awesome hardcover edition of the book, I want people to get prints of their favorite Decembond illustrations. To do that, I’m working with Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn to produce 8”x10” giclée prints.
WHAT’S A GICLÉE?
A giclée is a high quality digital print using fade-resistant, archival inks on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper. They are 8” x 10” and ready to frame.

I’m also going to make a 16"x20" 4-color limited edition screen print of Decembond 010 printed on 140 pound muscletone paper from the French Paper Company. This will be handprinted by me, so limited to only 50 copies for the Kickstarter.
ALL NEW SECOND SCREENPRINT!
6"x20" 4-color limited edition screen print of a new design called “A Whisper of Love, A Whisper of Hate”, printed on 140 pound muscletone paper from the French Paper Company. This will be handprinted by me, so limited to only 50 copies for the Kickstarter.
WHAT'S THE MONEY GOING TOWARDS?
Funds from this project will primarily go to the printing of this book and to the various backer rewards and shipping costs. I want to be able to print a large run, which will supply stock for my web store, as well as inventory to sell at comic conventions and craft shows.
Thanks for checking out my project. I’m really excited to try and make The Last Days of Danger possible.
Huge thanks to my girlfriend Rose for reading this page a million times, Shawn Smith, Ryan Browne, Nick Disabato, Ben Syverson and my studiomates at Four Star Studios for all taking time to help me with this Kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
For the last 10 years, I’ve worked as a designer and production manager getting more books then I can count to press (G.I. Joe comics, Marvel Legends Stan Lee packaging, and Conan the Adventurer dvd cases). Everything is pretty much done -- all that remains are a few bits and pieces of design and some editing, beyond that, I’m just waiting for funding to make it possible.
I’m working with Print Ninja to help make great, high quality books, and with the great Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn to supply me with beautiful giclées.
The only intimidating part of this project is shipping and fulfillment. I’ve spent a lot of time pricing out shipping and packaging costs – I feel I’ve come up with reasonable price that account for this, and I’m confident that with the friends I have involved, I can pack everything up and get it out to you in the time promised or faster.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
