About

A long time ago, kings, knights, and peasants all lived for a common purpose: kings ruled the land, peasants served their king, and knights defended their kingdom. Beyond the seas, beyond the woods, and beyond high mountains was a fortress ruled by a stern and powerful king. This stronghold was unbreakable and the king's army was undefeatable.  

Every year the king held an event called "The Royal Games" for his noble subjects to train to become highly skilled knights. Beneath this fortress lay a dungeon used to test their wits and strength. These knights faced rigorous obstacles including traps, weaponry, and psychological tactics. Only the most resilient knights prevailed. Whoever was worthy during the treacherous journey earned the rank among the king's elite.

Knights of Glory is a board game designed by Linh Nguyen. It is for ages 8 and up, for 2-5 players, and gameplay may run between 15-45 minutes. It is simple to teach, easy to learn, and has endless replayability. It can be considered a family friendly or party game. But most of all it is enjoyable by all ages. 

In Knights of Glory, you play as one of the king's knights seeking the ultimate goal of becoming a Royal Games victor. Advance through a treacherous dungeon by using the art of bluffing. Each player will try to make their way to the exit through deception and deduction by using the mechanics of poker and BS. More than one knight may prevail. 

Knights of Glory has a very unique element that closely resembles a lot of the attributes from poker such as "Sitting Out", "Deal Me In", and "Deal Me Out". Therefore, anyone can jump in a game or leave a game and it will not affect the game at all. 

The game takes place over several rounds until a player exits the dungeon. Each round consist of 3 Phases: 

  • Action
  • Voting
  • Refreshing

The first player will take the first player marker (Rook). On each player’s turn, they MUST decide to perform one of the following three actions:  

  • Advance
  • Pass
  • Discard

Always look at the Tier Path ahead of you. If the card is face-down, reveal it by flipping the card over to see what trap you must overcome. Roll as many Weapon Dice as shown on the Dice Indicator and play a Weapon Card.

This simply means your turn ends and the next player in the rotation takes their turn. 

You may discard your cards up to the Tier Level you are currently on, but it must be face-down and this ends your turn. Example: If you are on Tier 2, you may discard up to 2 cards. All discarded cards will be placed in a pile known as the "Discard Pile." 

After you perform your turn action to advance, you will be judged. Opponents will secretly cast their votes by placing their Voting Card face-down in front of them. Once all the votes are locked in, opponents will then reveal their Voting Cards simultaneously. Depending on what your opponents vote, the following will happen: 

If all opponents agree, you will NOT reveal your Weapon Card(s) and discard them. You will then advance to the next Tier Path. 

You will reveal your Weapon Card(s) and discard them. You will then advance to the next Tier Path. All opponents that agreed will stay where they are. All opponents that disagreed will retreat to the previous Tier Path. 

You will reveal your Weapon Card(s) and discard them. You will then retreat to the previous Tier Path and immediately end your turn. All opponents that agreed will do nothing. All opponents that disagreed will advance to the next Tier Path.  

If you successfully advance after the Voting Phase, you may decide whether to push your luck and perform one of your turn actions again.

NOTE: This phase will only occur after the last player in the rotation has ended their turn. 

When the round rotates back to the first player, the first player is now the last player. Pass the Rook clockwise to the next player in the rotation. The next player is now the first player in the new round.  

When the last player ends their turn, it is time to replenish every player’s hand back to 5 cards again. Players will be able to keep any remaining cards that they still have.   

If there is an Unknown Deck, deal these cards first. Otherwise, shuffle the Discard Pile and deal them to each player.

To do this, deal each player starting with the first player until they have 5 cards before dealing the next player in the rotation.

There may be more than one winner. When a player successfully arrives to the Exit Path, they are considered the winner, but other players have a chance to win as well and play one final turn. The game continues, starting with the next player in the rotation. However, the Voting and Refreshing Phases are eliminated, and all Weapon Cards must be played face-up. 

Each time a player successfully advances to the Exit Path, the Tier Paths will gradually collapse starting with the Cell, Start, and all of Tier 1 together; and then, when another player wins, Tier 2; and finally, Tier 3.

When all the Tier Paths collapse or the last player fails to exit, the game then ends, and players that successfully advanced to the Exit Path are considered the winners as well.

The Merchant Pledge Level are for Retail stores only. (Please contact us before you make your pledge so we can verify your eligibility.) You will pledge only $10 during the campaign and when the campaign closes, you will use our pledge manager to finalize your order and pay the remaining balance due. If you have any question about your status, please message us, and we will confirm before pledging.  

If you would like to order additional copies of the game, just increase your pledge amount of $27 by the cost of that pledge. For example, if you pledged the Knight Level and want 2 additional copies, then your total pledge amount will be $44(Knight Level) + $54 (2 copies), giving you a total of $98 as your final pledge. 

To make things simpler in this campaign, we decided to charge shipping after the campaign ends. (See “Shipping Information” for full details.) 

You can order optional buys by simply increasing your pledge amount by the cost of that pledge.  For example, if you pledged the Knight Level and want 1 game mat, then your total pledge amount will be $44(Knight Level) + $10 (game mat), giving you a total of $54 as your final pledge.

Risks and challenges

1. GREAT UNDERTAKING

A card/board game project is a big task. There are so many elements that comes together for the project to function smoothly and successfully in order to satisfy backers and get the game into their hands.

2. BUMPS ALONG THE WAY

Being this is our first Kickstarter project, there is much we are learning as we go. We are still learning how to optimize both manufacturing and fulfillment and expect that we will experience challenges and unforeseen obstacle along the way, but in preparation for this project we are surrounded by a knowledgeable team, Designers, Publishers, and Kickstarter Groups to minimize any problems.

3. DIFFICULT PROCESS

Fulfillment is by far the most difficult process of any project. Because of this fact, we have partnered with CrowdOx and Ship Naked to handle the logistics of fulfillment and shipping of our campaign.
