About this project
I want to print my first real, grown-up book of poems to share them with you! I completed the book this summer after a few years of work. I work full time teaching in a New York City public school classroom, and much of the work is inspired by this transformation of my life.
Poetry is my life source, however hectic life becomes it is what grounds me. So while the demands of teaching have not prevented my writing, it has largely prevented my efforts to consistently share or promote my work. So I dedicated this past summer to compiling a book in the hopes of getting it published. In the pursuit of that goal, I want to have it first beautifully printed to send out to to you, and to friends, (and to publishers,) as soon as possible. I think it's really important for people to read about what goes on (both inspiring and deplorable) in our children's educations, and want to enhance the understandings of and thought spent on the future of our children.
Each book will be unique, with lovingly handmade covers (with the help my partner who made the video up top, Joe Posner), which will then be bound with the printed text and sent to your door!
The hard part is done; the writing, and layout of the book is all complete. The money we raise here will go towards the materials for the book. The fundraising goal is what we'll need to buy supplies for handprinting covers, print the text & bind it all together, and mail it to you. But the more we raise, the better quality of book we can make for you -- so get in on the action, let's make a book!
