Most Fresh herbs and other leafy plants (like salads or spinach) are fully grown after 4 to 6 weeks.
For example, if you have a Fresh Square full of Mint (12 refills), you could make more than 100 mojitos, 100 mint tea or 25 Lebanese tabbouleh.

The light is composed of low energy LEDs. They mimic the sun cycle by automatically switching on in the morning and off at night, and they bring all the wavelengths that the plants need to grow all year long.
The water tank gives you 3 weeks of water supply. This smart system saves 80% of water consumption compared to watering an outdoor garden.
How does it work ? Wicks in the water reservoir connect to each refill. They proportion the right amount of water to the plants, little by little, keeping the soil moisturized throughout the time.

Here is what we are developing:
Reconnecting to nature: through the App, you'll get to understand your plants better. We'll teach you their language and needs. How do they grow? How would you harvest them to enjoy them as long as possible?
Reconnecting to Food: we will share selected delicious recipes to give you the full experience with all the greens and veggies you grow.
Reconnecting with people: the app sharing system will enable you to share recipes, tips, and pictures with your friends and other Freshers.
We developed a specific soil with the University of Liege - Gembloux Agrobiotech, the oldest educational institution in Belgium.
It is the only smart soil that is eligible for a use in organic agriculture.
It is made only of natural ingredients and organic wastes, and releases slowly and gradually the nutrients, according to the needs of each plant.
Our soil contains microorganisms like helpful bacteria and small mycorrhizae to assist the plants to grow well. By following the growing processes found in Nature, your plants will not “just grow”, they will be healthy and strong to bring you freshness and taste.
One of the most distinctive features of Fresh Square is its modularity. You can stack them together and create a vertical garden with up to 4 Fresh Squares or even combine them side by side to create a horizontal garden.
You can also use is as a stand-alone piece of furniture in your indoor.
Clean, concise, and modern, the built-in white metal parts emulate the cool and smooth texture of a high-tech product, whereas the wooden parts provide a homey touch.

From the first to last prototype, it's been a fantastic journey for us to bring Fresh Square to your home.

He met the challenge with us and designed the technical specifications of Fresh Square to make it suitable for manufacturing.
We believe that the change towards more sustainable societies will be initiated by the citizens. Therefore we want to empower everyone to have an easy option to make the right choices. Having a Fresh Square is a symbol that we, as citizens and city dwellers, want healthier food produced in a fair way for the planet.
When we asked ourselves why we both wanted to do this, we came up with four core values, which unite us and became Fresh Square’s founding principles: Empowerment, Adventure, Planet and Professionalism. They define who we are and what we fight for on a daily basis.
We have the vision and the will to develop Fresh Square into a long-term company to innovate for the people and the planet.

Risques et défis
To our knowledge, there are six dimensions of risks and challenges we might face.
1. Manufacturing:
From supply-chain logistics, tooling, quality control, and assembly, expert knowledge is required to get it right. We work with experienced industrial designers and professional manufacturers, who have experience with related technology solutions, to ensure that we hit our milestones and deliver the quality we all expect. We also took some allowance to be sure we will deliver in the imparted time. However, bigger issues during pre-series could lead to one or two months of delay.
2. Product Design:
We already have the prototype and design of the final product and we're ready to head to final manufacturing. During this period, minor design changes will certainly occur to improve Fresh Square before we ship the final products.
3. Shipping:
Whenever a new product is shipped around the world, issues such as delays or damages on the road must be considered. However, we made sure that our estimated delivery time is realistic to give us enough buffer time in consideration of these factors. Last but not least, we will keep our backers updated on the status of their Fresh Square.
4. Security of Data:
By collecting your email address, we understand the responsibility around the protection of your data. We will not disclose this information to anyone outside of our company and will continue to prioritize the security of our customers’ personal information at a high level.
5. Customs:
North American have specific standards for soil regulations. As our soil is composed of living microorganisms, it needs to be produced directly in North America. In order to duplicate our soil manufacturing chain in the US, we take an allowance of 2 extra months to deliver to US and Canada.
6. Soil issues:
Across the R&D timeline, we encountered many challenges related to Fresh Square's soil performance. Hundreds of experiments on soil performance (e.g. nutrients, micro-organisms, etc) and tests on irrigation and lighting system have been conducted. By now, we have successfully solved most of those issues. Tests will continue for industrialization and to introduce new plant species into our catalogue.
