About this project
Change Education, Change the World
We want to make the best quality education available. One on one education is so much better than classroom based learning, but we don't have 7 billion people to tutor the other 7 billion on the planet. We turned to the best one on one experience available - video games - and we're using them to make education much more efficient and enjoyable.
We have a couple of tech demos up, and we'll release updates regularly throughout the campaign.
- From Team Rockit: Learn Behaviour Trees
- From B^atman: Learn Artificial neural networks
- From Brainworth: Snakepit: Learn Path-finding algorithms
(tech demo, requires basic python skills)
- From Large Hadron Compiler: Learn Naive Bayes (coming soon)
- From Brainworth: Game World linking content together and showing what your friends know (coming soon)
Play games that teach you to make web-games in HTML5!
We're launching a full course to teach you how to make web games:
- equivalent quantity to a 13 week university course
- equivalent quality to a great indie game
- pick and choose the topics you want
We use visual metaphors so you learn faster, and we use narrative so what you learn sticks twice as well.
The best video games weave interactive experiences with high quality scripted narrative, so that's what we're bringing to education.
You'll get as much content as you'd find in a top quality 13 week college class, and we'll present it to you as a video game.
You work through our content as a skill tree, and you can dive in at the skill level suitable to you.
- New to coding? Dive in and have fun, we're beginner friendly.
- Experienced programmers will find 80% of the content new if they haven't made HTML5 games before.
Games for Fun
If you want to make games for fun, then we'll show you how because we want to play them.
Serious GamesIf you want to build serious games (games that do more than just entertain), then we'll teach you to make things like what we're building and can supply a lot of libraries if you want to teach code.
Awesome Web Apps
We'll help you build web apps that make users smile. Interactive visuals means an opportunity to better communicate with your users, helping them understand complex products quickly and a game like experience will help them remember you.
In the real world it's teams that accomplish things, not individuals. Learning to work together is one of the most valuable things we can learn, yet today's education sees it as cheating.
We will never penalise you for helping each other, or asking for help. Instead we'll reward you for helping others and give you multiple ways to pick up the same skills.
Learn with the Best
Our beta testers and crowd sourced content creators are from the best computer science colleges in the United States and Australia. We have beta users and creators signed up from:
- UT Austin
- Carnegie Mellon
- University of Sydney (Australia)
- University of NSW (Australia)
and more on the way!
Most of Brainworth has been built by volunteers. Over 50 people have believed in our vision and pushed to get this far. Artists, actors, costume designers. Camera operators, editors and sound technicians. Writers, directors, game designers, and of course our programmers. We also owe a special debt of gratitude to our advisors. Thank you Rohan, Soren, Guy, Rowan and JBS.
We have recently been awarded an interactive media grant to finish our artifical intelligence content. We gratefully acknowledge that Brainworth has been developed with the assistance of Screen NSW
Education is Changing. For Good.
Just choose your reward level and then add $25 extra for every additional gift copy you'd like to buy.
The social world that connects games will be proprietary, most games that link to the world will be open source. We will encourage people contributing games to make them open.
