Drums & Crumbs is a new mobile restaurant based in the heart of California wine country. Our mission is to bring authentic southern cuisine to Sonoma and Marin counties and the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a brand new company and have dedicated our lives to pursuing our mission. With your help, we are going to purchase a food truck! A successful Kickstarter campaign will cover an entire year of our operating expenses, as well as help finance the down payment for a small business loan, proving to lenders that we have the capital and public support we need to get off to a strong start and grow into a long-lasting, successful business.
Drums & Crumbs was created when two people who were both born in the South met in New York City and decided to leave their corporate careers in law and finance to open a food business together in Northern California. Our business was built on a shared love of thoughtful, well-executed food and a shared appreciation for the way good food brings people together.
Our business is our dream. In the past few months, we have noticed that conversations about the business often turn into conversations about what makes other people happy and fulfilled. Without even realizing it, changing careers and pursuing our dream has become a spark for other people who want to make a change as well.
Drums & Crumbs is committed to using fresh, all-natural, locally sourced ingredients to prepare Arthur’s Southern Fried Chicken, Rachel’s Seasonal Fresh Fruit Cobbler, and an assortment of traditional southern sides and desserts. Drums & Crumbs presents this authentic southern menu made from local California ingredients in a fresh and modern way that was inspired by our years in New York City. This trifecta, along with a healthy dose of southern hospitality, is what sets us apart.
We have been catering and selling at outdoor concerts and festivals since March and have already experienced an overwhelming response to our food and our business. If you have tasted our food, then you know how special it is. By having a food truck, we will gain access to even more opportunities. And we'll be able to sell our homemade buttermilk biscuits fresh out of the oven -- all day!
We are serious about high-quality southern food, and we are serious about running a successful business. Our respective corporate backgrounds in law and finance have helped us develop and execute a cautious yet ambitious business plan to grow Drums & Crumbs into a company worthy of the name. Your support at this early juncture will give us the financial fuel for a strong first year of operation.
Risks and challenges
As with all start up businesses, our first year will be the toughest. Built into our business plan is a budget that covers our entire first year of operation. This budget is financed by our own capital contributions, a family gift, a loan from a bank or third party lender to cover the purchase price of the truck, and this Kickstarter campaign.
There is a small risk that we will be unable to secure the loan for the truck. However, upon the successful completion of this Kickstarter campaign, we will have enough of our first year expenses (e.g. all of them) covered to sway even the most conservative of lenders. We are already in discussions with multiple lenders, and many of them are as enthusiastic about the business as we are.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
