What is Schulzies?
A) A reinvention of the classic bread pudding in 108 different
B) A new concept that brings back the "shop around the corner" dessert parlor with a nod to "old time" San Francisco.
C) Made from the highest quality ingredients, locally sourced, made from the community and feeding the community we live in by baking love.
D) The culmination of my hopes and dreams wrapped up in a nice little bow.
E) ALL OF THE ABOVE!
Thanks for giving my dreams a chance. No seriously, even you taking the time to read about Schulzies is pretty darn cool. I am hoping you will take a few more minutes and check out my video to get an idea of who I am and what I am doing. Now before I go on, I want to say that I am not doing this alone. I already have the support of an amazing team... Schulzies wouldn't have gotten this far without them.
They inspire me. They remind me that it really does take a village, as they say. So that's why I am here. Not just me... but WE need more help to take things to the next level.
We are in the final stages of opening a new niche dessert and pudding parlor in San Francisco called Schulzies Bread Pudding ("Schulzies" for short). We hope you'll come along for the ride by pledging to fund our project in exchange for some pretty cool "rewards." It is an ambitious project, but with your help we will make it happen. It's amazing what passion, hard work, and community support can accomplish, especially when great food and wine are involved.
Why did we create this Kickstarter page? (ie. Why do we need you to pledge money to our cause?)
To put it bluntly, it is CRAZY hard to build out a new shop in a historic building in San Francisco. No really, CRAZY hard.
The shop was supposed to be open in early December. But due to some delays in inspections, last minute construction requests from the city, and just plain bad luck, things got pushed back to January. As a result, expenses started to exceed our budget in a material way. We have self-financed as much as we can – we are now turning to you, friends, family, and fellow members of the Kickstarter community – to help us fund the last $10k to get to the finish line. Money raised through Kickstarter will primarily be used to purchase equipment, bring our beautiful historic building up to code, and pay off all final bills once the shop opens.
Nearly everyone I know has thought about owning his or her own business someday... now is your chance to own a small piece! By funding this project in this way, my entire founding team and me can personally meet, thank, and celebrate with everyone who becomes a backer.
When we reach our fundraising goal, you get the cool stuff and we get the financial support we need to complete our project. If we don't reach the goal, you don't lose any money (or get any cool stuff). So really there is only an upside for you.
Wanna Know More About Schulzies?
Schulzies is located in the historic Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco, walking distance from dozens of theaters and entertainment venues including SF Ballet, The SF Symphony, the new SF Jazz Center. We are the closest thing that San Francisco has to an old time "Main Street" and we just love it here. It is one of the few SF neighborhoods that "everyone" comes to. There are options for delicious food, great shopping, and even a few cool dessert options in our neighborhood. But it is time to mix it up with something new. By really establishing the true "home" of Schulzies and establishing our roots in the same city that has been the home of my family for generations, we will bring something new that won't just be a destination for San Franciscans but a destination for visitors and travelers as well. We already have great neighbors like Absinthe, Isotope Comic Lounge, Blue Bottle Coffee, The Boxing Room, Acrimony, Azalea, Seesaw, Zonal, and so many more.
Meet the SF Team!
Sarah: Founder, Baker, Idea maker.
Oren: Sarah’s husband. Practical business guy. SF native.
Jake: Marketing wizard. He used to work with Oren. Came to Sarah and Oren’s house for bread pudding one night; and from there he helped build and execute the Schulzies vision.
Julie: Operations guru. Many moons ago, Julie lived across the hall from Jake and after several years, the time came that we got to bring Julie on our team!
Michael: Chief architect. Sarah met Michael at a yoga teacher training. Little did I know that he is one of the top architects in the universe!
With that team we are too legit to quit!
That is our main SF crew but we are excited to grow the team! If you know someone who would like be part our cool kid pudding club, send your resume to Julie@schulziesbreadpudding.com
A Few Final Words
This is a big project. I've personally invested my own savings in this dream as has my husband and a few of our closest family and friends, but we need a bit more to reach the finish line!
If you want to reach out to me directly about an investment in Schulzies, please email me at email@example.com.
Help us make this city an even greater pillar of creativity and originality by supporting our project today. We look forward to thanking you in person!
Risks and challenges
We are a work-in-progress to say the very least. Each day presents something new when it comes to rewards, risks, and challenges.
Setbacks may include...
+ Permitting delays
+ Change orders to construction
+ Equipment breaking
+ Growing the team and hiring all the right people in all the right ways at the right time(s)
It may seem like a "cop out" of an answer to how I tackle these things... but the answer is that I don't... "we" do. The team that is behind Schulzies now is amazing. We go at each thing together when a problem or challenge arises. And because we do it together... I really do believe we can handle anything.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
