PROJECT: Create a 60 min documentary film that provides an experiential glimpse into the majestic temples of the ancient city of Angkor, Cambodia. Reveal spiritual insights into the mythology depicted throughout the temples. Bring to life the sacred wonder of connecting with the divine through inspired art and temple building.
METHOD: Use first person perspective throughout the film to give the viewer a direct experience of exploring the temples and surrounding artworks. Produce an original soundtrack that creates a meditative and expansive ambiance that is exemplified in these sacred spaces. Provide narration that brings to light the deeper understandings of consciousness that is hidden within the temple structures.
DIRECTOR: Ben Drewry is an electronic musician, film producer, painter and digital artist. He lives to create as much spiritual art and media as possible to balance out the negative media of today's world. His work aims to inspire devotion, share spiritual understandings and raise consciousness. He is a highly inspired and productive artist who shares most of his work freely online.
SUBJECT: The city of Angkor is home of the largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat. Originally a Vishnu temple, Angkor Wat was constructed in the 12th century. The city of Angkor was one of the largest ancient civilizations in the world. Its inhabitants, The Khmer, were deeply inspired by Indian merchants, diplomats, and Brahmins who traveled to Cambodia beginning in the 1st century CE. This cultural exchange produced an entire city of some of the most awe inspiring religious monuments that human genius has ever conceived. Over 1,000 temples were built that are exemplars of both Hindu and Buddhist culture. Along with Angkor Wat, we plan on filming other temples of significance in the area including Ta Prohm, Bayon, and the recently reopened Shiva temple Baphuon.
NEED: Previous documentaries on Angkor typically only focus on the Angkor Wat temple and are presented from a westernized view of history. Many of the temples are in a state of deterioration from hundreds of years of neglect and harsh jungle climates. Creating a film that sincerely attempts to awaken the viewer to the sacred power and beauty of these ancient temples can help immortalize their significance and inspire future generations towards fulfilling the human drive to connect with the heavens above and the bliss within. We also hope to generate support for the ongoing process of restoring and maintaining these sacred sites.
DISTRIBUTION: We plan on sharing this film online, submitting it for consideration to be featured on the upcoming Enlightening Television satellite channel, and submitting it in relevant film festivals.
PREVIOUS WORK: In 2010 Ben produced the film “Home of the Gods”. After traveling throughout India, he was inspired by the spiritual power and awesome beauty of the sacred temples he had visited. Using digital photographs that he and a friend had taken while traveling, the film explores the exquisite temple surroundings with a meditative soundtrack. Ben has also created soundtracks for short films on different Gods and Goddesses including Tara, Ganesha, and Lord Krishna.

Thank you again for your kind support!!!
"All the ancient power of the temple and its gods is puissant still. It surrounds those who look upon the wonder. The eyes sweep upwards over the rising storeys, up, up, to the mounting towers, to the pure firmament, and pause subdued. It is ever thus. Some power overcomes, some mysterious spell is caste, one can never look upon the ensemble of the Vat without a thrill, a pause, a feeling of being caught up into the heavens.”-Helen Churchill Candee
