About this project
Please take a moment to "like" the Mudjackin' Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mudjackin. Thanks!
My name is Christopher Good. I'm raising money to make a narrative feature film entitled Mudjackin'. To date I've written, directed, photographed, and edited two short films: "Return of the Gumshoe Kids" and "Holy Moly" (only 12 minutes and viewable below!). This will be my first feature. I'm really, really excited- and I need your help!
In Mudjackin', Dustin and Travis are best friends who share a mudjacking business, a rap-metal band, and a pact to make the upcoming summer the summer of their lives. Soon, though, their livelihoods are threatened by a newly-arrived team of rival mudjackers, their hopes of winning a local battle of the bands undermined by a maddeningly glib Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band, and their dreams of an idyllic summer shattered by the emergence of a bizarre murder mystery. Mudjackin' is a freewheeling absurdist comedy set in the Ozarks of Missouri and shot in the Ozarks and Kansas City, Missouri.
I'm going to write, direct, photograph, and edit the movie, and produce it alongside Megan Mantia (http://www.meganmantia.com/), who also produced "Holy Moly" with me. The film will star Jimmy Darrah ("Holy Moly"), Alex Moss ("Return of the Gumshoe Kids"), Shannon Michalski (of SSION), and Leone Anne Reeves.
We're going to start shooting later this summer- and this is where you come in! There are a lot of costs involved with making a feature film, and so our goal is to raise $20,000. Time is short, and every dollar counts- we need your Kickstarter support in order to pay our actors and crew, rent and purchase necessary filmmaking equipment, rent locations, and pay for post-production necessities such as sound mixing. Once the film is complete we'll be entering it into film festivals and getting it as widely seen as possible.
Kansas City is full of amazing, talented people and is a great place to make a movie. We want to make something extraordinary that helps demonstrate this and raises the national profile of the Kansas City film and art scenes. Please take a look at "Holy Moly" below and consider making a contribution to the production of Mudjackin' via Kickstarter, and also by spreading the word on Facebook, Twitter, and through emails and word of mouth.
