We're doing this Kickstarter to raise money to produce a new short film entitled "Brad Cuts Loose". It'll be written and directed by Christopher Good (that's me), produced by Andreina Byrne and myself, and star Kentucker Audley (Sun Don't Shine, Queen of Earth, Come Down Molly) and Tipper Newton (Adventure Time, Southbound). The plan is to shoot "Brad Cuts Loose" in Kansas City, Missouri in April...but we need your help to make that happen.
"Brad Cuts Loose" is an absurdist tale of an uptight office drone (that's Brad) attempting to...well, cut loose. Brad (Kentucker Audley) seemingly discovers the perfect vehicle for this when an advertisement for a business catering to his innermost desires (in an insanely specific way) pops up one morning on his computer. Brad's subsequent visit to the business, however, and encounter with its receptionist Janine (Tipper Newton) don't quite go as planned...
"Brad Cuts Loose" is going to be stylized and surreal and is heavily inspired by both my love of independent-minded 80's cinema like After Hours, Something Wild, Eating Raoul, Vampire's Kiss, and the satirical work of artists like Maurizio Cattelan and the GCC. Since completing my debut feature film Mudjackin' I've been concentrating primarily on music videos, and I really love doing those. I also, however, really love writing dialogue and engaging in the sort of cinematographic design work that narrative filmmaking entails- so I'm really excited at the possibility of diving back into that form, if we can make this happen!
The money that we raise will be used for all aspects of the production- equipment and travel costs, props and production design and costuming expenses, and post-production as well. Obviously if we're able to raise more than the amount of our goal that would be a tremendous help- our goal is definitely set at the minimum amount required to make this film.
There's no market for short films, really, no money to be made- "Brad Cuts Loose" will exist purely for the enjoyment and entertainment of its audience. Which I hope will include you!

He's appeared in such films as Sun Don't Shine by Amy Seimetz, Queen of Earth by Alex Ross Perry, The Sacrament by Ti West, and Bad Fever by Dustin Guy Defa. He recently completed principal photography on the feature film Sylvio, which he's co-directing with Albert Birney.
Actor and musician Tipper Newton has appeared on the television show Adventure Time and the films Southbound by Patrick Horvath, The Oregonian by Calvin Lee Reeder, and Hannah Takes the Stairs by Joe Swanberg.
The wonderful John Ennis (Mr. Show, W/ Bob and David, Zodiac) has joined the cast of "Brad Cuts Loose" in a supporting role and we couldn't be more delighted.

Risks and challenges
Making a film always entails numerous logistical challenges and problems to be solved. The actors and crew on "Brad Cuts Loose" have been involved with many, many productions between them, however, and I'm confident that we'll be able to roll with whatever punches may come our way. The core group of cast and crew are all committed to this project and intent on seeing it to completion, and with your help we'll make it happen.
