The Edge of the Sea is both a documentary travelogue and a love letter to the Sea Islands of the South Georgia Coast, a visual exploration of one of the most beautiful (and little-known) landscapes on earth. At turns windswept and peaceful, desolate and populous, this coast hovers just inches above sea level, yet supports a vast ecological niche and the people - from slaves and pirates to modern-day fishermen and artists - who have made a life at the edge of the sea.
Come with us as we explore Tybee, Skidaway, Wilmington, and many other islands that form the South Georgia Coastline. Filming will begin in June/July of 2013, and will become a gorgeous, 30-minute film that brings the shimmering beauty of this region to life.
Risks and challenges
Tracey, Phillip and Orlando have worked on many photo/video projects both together and separately, and feel confident we can bring "The Edge of the Sea" to completion using our combined skills. Our biggest challenges right now are scheduling - landscape shooting is very weather dependent! - and getting the best interviews for the "people" part of our film. This kickstarter, in fact, is largely to finance the interview/voice over portion of the film, as we have already raised a portion of our budget personally to pay for travel and landscape filming.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
