A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
ioTracker is a next generation GPS tracker based on the new KPN LoRa network. This network is made for Internet of Things (IoT) purposes and has indoor and outdoor coverage within the Netherlands.
Lightweight and energy-saving
Our tracker is small in size and is very lightweight. Where does the ioTracker differs compared to traditional GPS trackers? Answer: Traditional GPS trackers are using a mobile simcard to send their location to the user, and they have a maximum battery life of one week. The ioTracker uses the LoRa network: This makes it possible to make a small, affordable and very energy efficient device, with a battery life up to 2 years.
Where does the ioTracker differentiates compared to traditional Bluetooth trackers? Answer: Bluetooth has a maximum range of several dozens of meters. The ioTracker has nationwide coverage in the Netherlands and we are working on roaming support.
How accurate is the positioning of the ioTracker? Answer: The ioTracker uses a modern GPS chip with special tuned antennas for good reception. The tracker has a accuracy up to 2.5 meters.
Can I use the ioTracker on my own LoRa network? Answer: No, the LoRa network isn`t user configurable due to the tight integration with our software platform.
Where does the product development and manufacturing takes place? Answer: The ioTracker is developed, prototyped, tested and manufactured in the Netherlands.
Can I use the ioTracker abroad? Answer: Currently the ioTracker is only supported in the Netherlands. We are working to get roaming support in the future.
Risks and challenges
We are fully aware that keeping promises is key to build up trust. ioThings VOF is a start-up, but our team has a good track record of delivering quality products on time. We have a good relationship with our suppliers and manufacturers, who are based in The Netherlands. Our prototypes are tested thoroughly and our first production batch of 500 ioTrackers has been ordered. We are expecting this batch to arrive in may. When we are ramping up the production it`s always possible that there will be a shortage of components, however we are anticipating this with good forecasting.
After evaluation of our business plan and a pitch, we have received an investment of €30.000,- from the Dutch bank Rabobank for further development of the product and finance production batches. This investment capital give us a good cash position.
Please help us with you pledge so we can bring this great product to market. ioTracker, always find your dearest possession.
