About The Film
In Western culture, when we find ourselves in crisis, it's natural to question our existence and the meaning of life. We are suffering; we want to change. Eastern philosophies, yoga and meditation are keys to happiness, or so preach the countless Western adherents of these far Eastern practices. Buddhism is one path to enlightenment.
Following this path to Nepal we meet the young Tibetan Buddhist monk Tenzin, representative of a new generation, who is grappling with recognisable questions of modern life.
The insights we garner from observing Tenzin unveil a universal human flaw: the obsessive pursuit of happiness. The Sad Monk takes a look underneath the surface of a distinct and idealised environment; the holistic upbringing and rhythm of life in the monasteries of Nepal.
We have something to learn from his story.

A Note From Me
I went through so many ups and downs to make this movie happen. Traveling, shooting and getting to know the monk Tenzin in Nepal was intense. And I haven’t finished yet. As you can imagine, making and financing a film completely by yourself without a big balls production company can get expensive. Which is why I’m here. I want to finish strong but I need your support.
The funds I’m hoping to raise will be used to cover the hard costs of the post-production. Editing. Hard drives. Colour grading. Sound mix. Music licence. Website. Film festival entry fees. Project manager. You get the idea. I still have a few months to go.
So, I need your help! I need support and love and if you have any, I need money. I wouldn't be asking if I didn't believe in this project, Tenzin and myself. I'll take whatever you are willing to give. And I'll be forever grateful to you for giving it!
Making this film is my dream and I don’t want it to be shattered. This is my first movie ever so I’m taking it very seriously. Trust me. I’m fighting for it till my last breath. I’ll keep you posted on this one, same as on the progress I’m making. Sometimes I like taking pics! In addition to all the fine gifts/rewards/prizes that are available, most importantly, a donation of any size makes you part of The Sad Monk. It’s gonna be your movie too. So feel free to shout out loud and share your thoughts! I do it all the time...

Risks and challenges
I have already faced all possible risks, challenges and setbacks and overcome them. All backers will receive their rewards.
IF something happens to me after this project is funded and before the rewards are fulfilled, my dear friend and project manager Jessica will take care of sending out all rewards, will haul her ass to Brooklyn and find someone more qualified to show you the street arts and the monastery, take you out to dinner, teach you to cook Himalayan style, send out all of my notes and incense and flags and thank yous, update the website with your name and will ensure my editor gets any co-producer names into the credits. Basically, even if I die, this film will get finished and you will be rewarded for believing in me. Drops mic.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
