About

WE WILL BE BACK JULY 28th WITH NEW ART AND EU FRIENDLY SHIPPING!

A sample of a new Trobil card!

Asking for Trobils is a 2-5 player board game.  It's easy to learn with almost no downtime between turns while still having a strategic balance and theme.

Game time runs between 60-90 minutes, no matter how many players, and if you expose it to gamma rays, cool stuff happens (not really, don't do that).

Stretch Goals Will Earn Us Plastic Ships!

Theme Overview

The O-Renj star system was full of wonderfully happy beings... until... Trobils appeared!  They're incredibly destructive and tenacious creatures.  Your job is to catch and eliminate as many Trobils as possible.

You'll make connections around the star system with pirates, smugglers, and other riffraff.  Deal with merchants, search the asteroid belt for ore, and build the perfect traps to catch the Trobils plaguing the system!

Why is Everything Orange?

We like Orange. And it's colorblind friendly!

How the Game Plays

On your turn you either place one Ship or retrieve your Ships from the board.  When you place a Ship, you get whatever that space gives you.  If you place your Ship on the Comet, then you'll receive two Crystals.  If you place it on the Asteroids, you'll get two Ore.  It's that simple.

Even better, unlike most worker-placement games, there is no blocking.  You can bump an opponent off a spot to get what you need.  This is actually good for them, as it means they don't have to spend their next turn retrieving the Ship.

Another way that Asking for Trobils is different is how players make Connections around the board.  You can increase what you get when you visit a location by adding Connections to your Ship Card.  So while one player may only get two Crystals for visiting the Comet, you might get two Crystals and an Ore.  How you increase what you receive is up to you.

Catching Trobils is how you earn points and win.  It's a race to see who can get the cards that pop up.  If you're determined enough, you can try and grab the larger Trobils that require a lot more resources to capture, but give more points.  Sometimes grabbing the smaller, but easier Trobils to capture is just as good.

Risks and challenges

This will be our second published game. Evil Intent was our first and was successfully funded through Kickstarter. We learned a lot in the production of that game, and have improved our production process this time in our continual effort to make the Backer experience ever-better!

Are there going to be new challenges along the way for Asking for Trobils? Of course there are, but this time we've spent more time looking ahead and planning for them in advance. We've made choices in the game's design and the Kickstarter campaign that limit the possibilities of chaos.

In any case we've learned that transparency and honesty along the way is the best way to deal with unforeseen challenges.

It's our dream to continue to make games and we already have many more planned. We won't let anything stop us.
