Here we go!
On June 18th of this year I was reminded what friends are for. They cheer us on when we need it, they sympathize when we are down, they push us to be better and love us just because. The Smooch is my little way of letting my friends know that I am grateful for their relentless care and encouraging spirits.
I started this project about 3 years ago, but due to poor health Tad (the frog) got put to the side. Now here we are, I have a wonderful new kidney and I feel great! I have so much to do and would love to get Tad and his friends into your hands. I want you to know what I will be doing with your support.
The funds will be used mainly for the actual printing of the book. Through my friend, Sandra Wiebe we have received numerous quotes and we have settled on one out of Calgary, AB. It will make it easier for me to get artwork etc to them as I am in High River, AB. I am a graphic designer/Illustrator by trade and have all of the print ready files to send to the printers.
As a legally blind illustrator no one will let me drive! Needless to say I'm going to have to use some of the funds for travel. I have a few friends willing to drive me around to all of the small town bookshops and help me get it out to various libraries. We are going to be doing our own marketing and promotions through a variety of means - social media, print advertising and more.
Once we raise the money through Kickstarters and donors like yourself, we go into production mode. I am hoping for a January 30, 2016 deadline. I am sure that it will be a smooth process, yet I know that little things do pop up that can be a little out of our control. I am completely dedicated to meeting the date of January 30th and will work very hard to see it happen.
When the books are completed I have access to a great group of friends that will come and help with packaging, shipping and delivering you your rewards. Funds will also be allocated to this process.
I am looking forward to publishing this book and hope that if we exceed our limit I will be able to publish, The Collie Friends too. It's about a trip I took as a young girl to Scotland. While there, I loved exploring a castle ruin across the road from my grannies home. The adventure begins deep in the forest where I meet a varied group of characters living in the year 1041!
I am very proud of what I do in spite of the obstacles life has set before me. I hope to inspire all of you to just do what you love. That's what this journey is for me and I thank-you all for helping me to see it become a reality.
Risks and challenges
Should anything unforseen happen along the way for this project I will let you all know. I don't have any other projects at the moment, so all of my time will be spent making sure things run smoothly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
