About this project
High school student, Kristen Jane Anderson, thought she had the picture-perfect life until strokes of gray dimmed her outlook: three close friends and her grandmother died within two years. Then, still reeling from these losses, she was raped by a friend she thought she could trust. She soon spiraled into a seemingly bottomless depression.
Why does my life have to be so painful?
What’s wrong with me?
It’s not going to get better.
It could all be over soon, and then I won’t hurt anymore.
One January night, 17 year old Kristen, decided she no longer could nor wanted to deal with the emotional pain that smothered her. She jumped in front of an oncoming freight train, ready to die and believing she would be sent to heaven…to peace.
But Kristen's story doesn't end there.
"Life, In Spite of Me" this remarkably joyful young woman shares the miracle of her survival, how she felt hands holding her down on the tracks-saving her life, and the overwhelming sound of the song "Amazing Grace" comforting her as she lay on the ground. Kristen describes the agonizing aftermath of her failed suicide attempt leaving her without her legs, and the journey of her hope in God which has completely transformed her life, giving her a powerful purpose for living.
Her gripping story of finding joy against all odds provides a vivid and unforgettable reminder that life is a gift to be treasured. Her encounters with several pivotal people after her suicide attempt lead her to the truth of God's saving grace in her life and radically change her outlook for good.
NEW VIDEO MESSAGE FROM KRISTEN:
The moment we read Kristen's true story, we knew it was not only a journey that had to be told, but one that had a message of hope and grace that is timely-so needed in our world today.
It is our desire to take this inspiring true story, written by Kristen Jane Anderson and Tricia Goyer, and have it adapted into an (Independent) Feature Film of high quality, and to share Kristen's message of hope for those who battle depression and thoughts of suicide.
The support we raise from your generous contributions will allow us to begin this journey!
We will adapt the book to a screenplay, and hire a talented director and cast to translate that vision to the big screen. It's not merely about entertainment-it's a story with a greater purpose to honor God and inspire others. Help us spread the life-giving message of this young woman and the journey that took her from the depths of despair to the heights of hope and redemption!
We will produce a high quality and gripping script and move forward with production to create the feature film, "Life, In Spite of Me" by honoring God and inspiring people with the truth that life is worth living!

Risks and challenges
We are committed to proceeding with every aspect of this project with honor and integrity but whenever anyone takes on an independent film such as this and with delivering such high quality perks as we have created, there are many risks that we may or may not have to tackle. For example:
OUR COMMITMENT - Guy and Amber have more than 15 years working in the entertainment industry. Starting as a production assistant and doggedly working his way up to becoming an influential development executive for a major studio, Guy knows what it takes to make a great film. We will work long hours and deal with anything that is thrown at us to make sure that every aspect of this campaign is a success.
COMPLETION - We are committed to this story, to Kristen Jane Anderson's life and her journey, and we will work very hard to create something that is special, of high quality, and deep in meaning and purpose. Will we be able to fund the completion of the film? Will we be able to accomplish these goals and finish the film? We are confident that the answer is YES and will throw every ounce of energy we have to make this film a success. This is precisely where you come in! With your support-both financial and in prayer - we will be able to deliver above and beyond even our own expectations!
DELIVERY OF PERKS: The timeline we have set for the delivery of rewards is a rough estimate and we plan to deliver the perks much earlier than listed here, however, this could be directly affected by delays we may encounter while developing the story and working with vendors to meet their deadlines. Please rest assured that we will of course make sure that the rewards are delivered and that our team will do its utmost to communicate with you if and when changes occur.
THE ULTIMATE GOAL: Our ultimate goal as stated above is to produce a high quality and gripping script for the future feature film, "Life, In Spite of Me" while honoring God and inspiring people with its inherent message of grace and hope, making a film that makes a difference, increases awareness, provides a conversation point and has immediate and measurable impact. We always strive to create ways for our projects to serve as a platform for the gifts of others and we are reaching out to you so that you will have an opportunity to join us in that effort!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
