New Nocturnals Anniversary Project Comes to Light

Posted by Steven Morger (Creator)

Greetings from the Night Studio !

A quick shout-out to let you know about two groovy books coming in June/July:

From HERO INITIATIVE and Yours Truly, the

We worked for four years gathering drawings and paintings from 50 fantastic artists to pack into one sweet 136 page softcover volume - I’m in there, too, and together it’s packed with new drawings , sketches and illustrations dedicated to our favorite nighttime heroes , including two short Nocturnals stories (amazing art by Viktor Kalvachev and Ruben Martinez , respectively) and a raft of rarely seen personal and concept art.

The Who’s Who of creators reads, well, like a Who’s Who of Creators, with such talents as Mike Allred, Howard Chaykin, Gene Colan, Glenn Fabry, Dave Johnson, Steve Purcell, Mike Mignola, Phil Noto, Craig Rousseau, Steve Rude, Stan Sakai, Bill Sienkiewicz, Walter Simonson, Matt Smith, Mark Texeira. Bruce Timm, and so many MORE! It’s an embarrassment of nocturnal treasures!

And a quick second plug:

From DC Comics:

BATMAN: THRILLKILLER comes back into print in early July, the Eisner-Nominated Elseworlds , written by Howard Chaykin with painted art by ( guess who?). This is the book I’m arguably best known for outside of Nocturnals. If you haven’t read it - if you don’t have it collected , pre-order with your LCS now ! The last TPB collection in 2005 sold out quickly . This new collection differs in that Howard wrote a great new Introduction, I wrote the equally insightful Afterword and provided pin-up art and concept work in a nice gallery section . It’s the classic Bat take of the early 60’s that never happened!

Your Local Comic Shop will order yours- the Diamond Previews order Code for Nocturnals Anniversary Book is APR181597 and APR180265 for Thrillkiller.

The cut-off for their orders is April 26th, TOMORROW! The Nocturnals Anniversary book will also be available to order next month through:
