The Arcane Knights is a modern throwback to the early Hack and Slash games with updated graphics and a unique quirky story!

          Let's Create a Game is working on a game project called The Arcane Knights that is a four-player Hack n' Slash game with the Kickstarter goal to create a fully working game. The project requires the first level to be playable with all the assets to be considered a Beta build. However, our $25,000 Kickstarter goal is to create the Beta. All Rewards are for the beta release. The Arcane Knights game will be created using Unreal Development Kit, DRM-Free and ultimately Free-To-Play model. We really wanted to include a completed game  if funding allowed it. Unfortunately,  Kickstarter prohibits us from offering something not in the initial goal. Once the final count is in, at that point, the game can be scaled according to money available (See Stretch-Goals below). Don't worry, if funding allows us to complete the game fully, you will be receiving the Final Version, as well. We do not forget our backers!

         The Arcane Knights is a Hack n' Slash that merges 15 years of this genre of game into one. Imagine Gauntlet Legends (1997), meets Castle Crashers (2007), meets Diablo (1996). The Game is light on the serious story tone, has a ton of enemies and is very comical.

Synopsis:

          Four knights, Alice the witch, Winton the Wizard, Bog the Werewolf, and Lily the Demonness, are employed by the King to complete quirky missions to save the queen from illness in exchange for gold and treasure. Although the Arcane Knights are nontraditional heroes due to their dark origin, they love gold more than they love choosing sides. Currently, the King is at war with the Evil Lord Malarkey and his horde of derby-hat wearing goblin minions. Completion of each quest brings the Arcane Knights closer to the Evil Lord Malarkey as they venture further into his territory in their quest to save the queen.

        After a year of planning and creating assets, we realized that we needed to switch from a completely community-based project created by unpaid hobbyists, to a closed work environment with firm direction and understanding of the game pipeline. Unfortunately, this means we need to hire staff members who would love to help but need to be paid (Even if its a low amount). Other staff, like Unreal and Flash scripters are needed to bring the game-play to life, and they do not come cheaply. Most of the funds will be directly going to hired staff needed for the beta version. Check out our Stretch-Goals below to see how we are planning to distribute the funds.

      With the definition of Hack n' Slash so broad,  it is best that you watch the Kickstarter video at the top to get an idea of what we want to create and how humorousness we really are!

     Arcane knights is a 4-Player 3D PC game in isometric prospective similar to popular titles such as: Diablo, Torchlight and Gauntlet Legends. While we only have 2D concept to show now, we'll be unveiling some 3D assets in future updates.

       Arcane Knights is being developed using free programs including Unreal (UDK) for the engine along with Open-Source programs like GIMP for 2D artist and Blender for 3D artist. Therefore we are able to keep the game cheap and nearly royalty free. The first release is designed for Windows-based machines but is scalable thanks to cross-platform support included but not limited to; Phones (iOS/Android), Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation. Primary development will take place on PC’s running Windows 7 32/64-bit and tested on the same version. Once it's completed, other versions will be considered. 

        LCAG was created by the Arcane Knights Creative Director who decided to create a website containing information for game creation. The Information is located on LCAG website with public forums and tutorials. Links on this site have been gathered from all across the web and from Arcane Knights own team.  With over a year a planning, including Completed TDD (Technical Design Document) and GDD (Game Design Document), LCAG is ready to get started!

     As the project progresses, every team member gains valuable skills, ranging from communication to learning the game pipeline. Each member has his or her individual goals. An important goal of this project is to allow team members the freedom to be creative and to think outside the box. In the end, the techniques and information gathered while making this project will be transferred and shared on YouTube and the Let's Create A Game website.

         We very much would like to strive for a high standards. However, because money is a large factor and is what makes the world go round, we need to have sufficient funding in order to make a quality game. We have no delusions of how things work and have setup stretch goals to show what you can (as a backer) look forward to!

       If we exceed $100,000, much more can be added to the game such as other realms and PVP support, etc. As you can see, there is no mention of a final version listed and that is because we want to make sure it's ready. Our reputation and and a quality game matters to us! Just remember, every bit of funding after the initial goal will go into making the beta version better, which will be passed on to you. As levels and realms are created, you the backers will receive them before the public. Our ultimate goal is to have a DRM-Free, Free-To-Play model and release all assets to the public allowing others to see what we created and inspire others to do the same. Once our initial funding is met we will update with more information as funding grows.

In Depth on Rewards:

Backers - $1-10 - Showing support, even if it's a low amount grants you Beta Access and name in credits.

Backers - $20 "Early access to Beta and a week before the rest plus unlock unique Kickstarter pledge character or Weapon skins via game code."

Backers - $25 " Early access to Beta and Physical Copy with Artwork on a USB Flash Drive and extra goodies above."

-This one is based on good faith. You will get a Physical copy with Artwork that is high resolution for wallpapers and a PDF for your enjoyment. In the end, it may be just the beta if funding is not available to create the whole game. We very much want to give something limited and special. To avoid misleading, only 25 are available. It will most likely ship out when the beta is ready.

Backers - $25 "Early access to Beta plus a signed doodle sketch from our Lead Artist David Jonhson and Skin Codes."

-Self explanatory,  You get a doodle our artist David does often while thinking of ideas for the game. This is ship out right away after Kickstarter ends. 

Backers - $25 "Early access to Beta plus you get to think up and have a Easter Egg placed in the game. Choose how hard it is to find and brag to your friends online! Only you will know where it is unless you tell someone."

-This might one of the funnest rewards anyone has every done. How often do you get to place a Easter Egg in a game you helped  create? The second part of the reward gives you access to the beta before the public (Kickstarter goal).

Backers - $50 "Want your favorite pet to be in a game? You get to name and place a NPC Animal in the game along with Early access to Beta. You also get the Skin codes"

-Also super cool! Once again, it's not often you, as a backer. get to put so much into the game to really make it unique. You are sure to see The Arcane Knights project director's cats in the game. Maybe you have a favorite goat back home. Who knows? You also get the Beta like everyone else (Kickstater goal)

Backers - $50 "Have some funny dialog? Create a awkward conversation in the game, choose who it is with and when it takes place. You also get Early access to Beta of the game and skin code unlocks."

-Another great reward! We want you to be able to create a conversation in game. Each of these odd rewards really help to make the game unique. We are sure you can think of something outlandishly strange and we want it! Of course if you want to take the easy road and do a inside joke neither the staff nor anyone but you will get, that's fine too. Don't forget this reward comes with the Beta (Kickstarter goal).

Backers - $50 (*) "You get to create a one liner for a character! This is extremely limited so act fast to hold your place. This reward also grants Early access to Beta skin code unlocks."

- This is one of the strange rewards also never seen. You simply get to have your favorite character yell a one liner. This is similar to a Easter Egg but it happens during game-play rather than triggered by finding a secret. You also get the Beta (Kickstater Goal).

Backers - $50  "Not an art collector but a fan of merch? Get an Arcane Knights (#12 Female / #13 Male) T-Shirt and have it shipped to you right away while you wait to get Beta with Skin Code unlocks."

- This is awesome way to get something unique! You get to support the game and get a T-Shirt out of it. The design has yet to be finalized (give it a few days).   

Reward #14 "Are you a secret art collector? choose between three different 8x10" lithograph signed by our lead artist David Johnson! Have it shipped to you right away while you wait get Early access to Beta Skin Code unlocks."

- Collecting signed lithographs is a great way to show your support for the game. We are currently finalizing the choices but you will be able to choose between a few options. The series will be signed and numbered, once it is gone, you will not be able to get another copy!

Backers - $100 "Ever wanted to become a NPC in the game! You get to choose the name and what they say! You also get Early access to Beta with Skin Code Unlocks."

- This reward allows you to pick a NPC in the castle and have whatever name you want him or her to have. The names are subject to approval to avoid anything offensive. If you choose, that NPC can have dialog when clicked on.

Backers - $100 "Receive the Early Beta and Skin Codes plus help create and name a Mini Boss in the game!"

- We really want to give you, the backer, freedom so for the most part, the Monster / Thing you think of with a little work will become a mini boss. Decide the attacks and look of it. This is also subject to approval to avoid game-breaking ideas.

Backers - $100 (*) "Receive the Early Beta and Skin Codes plus you get to name the King in the game! This is limited to one person can so claim it now!"

- To make it clear The King is the main NPC in the game. Every time you get a major quest it comes from him. Think up a awesome name and that will be it. The name are subject to approval to avoid anything foul mouth.

Backers - $150 "So you think you are creative? Help invent an enemy and name it. You also get access to Beta with skin codes"

-We are always looking for way you the backer can get in on the action. You will be able to join in discussion and bring your enemy idea to life.  

Backers - $400 (*) "A VERY Special Easter Egg - Create a marriage proposal or a love letter and have it placed in game. You and your loved one both get Beta version and a T-shirt of the in-game screen shot showing the message."

-This is a once in a lifetime thing! Need I say more?

Backers - $500-5,000 - These are the costly ones. With many rewards and if you have the cash, no harm in spending big! All previous reward tiers excluding those with asterisks (*).

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Their are always risks involved with anything. Before starting this Kickstarter, the current staff sat down and thought of what problems might occur and proposed solutions to them. The reality is that many of our current problems of a community-based approach are directly related to money issues. Some staff just cannot afford to continue in an un-paid capacity.

Our project has a sound setup already. Game Documents have been created, concept artwork done, a solid workflow designed and data sharing methods worked out. It's naive to think that is all there is to game creation but with a firm understanding of what needs to be done, one of the hardest parts is over. We just need funds to finished what has been started.

The only major obstacle that we encountered was hiring a unreal scripter - that's half the reason for the Kickstarter. Whoever is hired has a lot of work and that requires pay. We may be able to find someone who will do the job for a fixed amount but most likely we will be need to hire a scripter by the month or hour. This will really eat into our funds. We are ready to get started as soon as we can hire a scripter and not waste any time!
