What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About

Laceme was born to help children and suffering people to tie shoelaces without the help of an adult and enjoying it !!! As father, I know sometimes we can't be with our kids but we want be sure that everything is ok....the shoelaces too !!!! Let Laceme do it for you !!! I designed Laceme with a 3D CAD and I have the complete control of design. I designed several models and realized prototypes. I filled patent on it to assure the Intellectual propriety of it. My testers were my kids and myself.

Now you can get a very precise 3D Printed version of Laceme.

Risks and challenges

The current Laceme prototypes have been 3D printed with PLA.
I made several prototype (+50 types) before reach the actual size and shape.
PLA is not toxic material and the prototype are almost ready.

Laceme works well with common laces size. I experienced it on kids and adults' shoes.
