I'm begging, pleading, with you guys to try again. I desperately need this biography of Eric in English.

Could definitely use some press too. I really want to see this happen

    7. Mattia Cuttini on November 27, 2015

Let's do it again! Re-organize stuff and pledges, maybe even more simple with the book only. :)

    8. Pip on November 27, 2015

I'll be sure to pledge the next kickstarter. Please nobody give up yet.

    9. Per Bolmstedt on November 27, 2015

Agree with @Dennis about the title. Hadn't even thought about it, but in retrospect, "Discover the world of Eric Chahi, one of the greatest game designers of the 1990s" would probably have attracted more backers than the current title. :)

Oh man, if only one of the backer tiers was getting to have a skype call with Eric Chahi himself.. I would have absolutely taken that in a single heartbeat. I hear Eric is actually doing interviews to promote this book as well! It's seemingly difficult to find info about it though; this project seems a little under the radar. I'm trying to promote this kickstarter myself in various places because I'd really love to see it funded.. It'll be a dang shame if it doesn't reach its goal. I already have the french version of this set, but I'm gladly going to buy it again in english.

Hi Antonio, yes, this is very sad we are pushing hard to get this great project funded...and we have nice stretch goals too...

    27. Abrial Da Costa Creator on November 18, 2015

@seppo I totally agree! we did our best to communicate to all retro and specially Amiga communities and we don't get resonnance, we don't know why...we are trying to push hard until the end, fingers crossed!!

@Abrial, I find it depressing that such a wonderfull project like this has only 162 backers so far. Amiga community alone should have funded this campaign ages ago! What ever that surprise is I hope that unveil it as soon as possible. If it's something really cool, I think that this project can still be saved. :)

    30. Abrial Da Costa Creator on November 16, 2015

Hi Pip, we still have 11 days to achieve our goal, we gain 7 more days last night, we'll do an update about it this evening, Paris's Time.

    31. Abrial Da Costa Creator on November 16, 2015

Hi Seppo, thank you for your message. We have some nice stretchgoals for the Amiga community that we will unveils, but first we need to find the budget to cover the costs for the book and the Collector Edition ;) thanks for your support

    32. Pip on November 15, 2015

What happens when the kickstarter runs out of time and we didn't raise enough money? Do we start again?

    33. Seppo Seppälä

      on November 14, 2015

Sadly, I don't think this will work out. :( I think this could have attracted more Amiga fans if you were offering Amiga floppy disk version too. It might sound crazy but it could had been worth to take a shot as the fact is that Amiga community is still very active and alive.

I had issues with pix'n'love France (see post), but now that I have contacted Marc on below mentioned email Adress, they were solved immediately. Thanks !!! I will keep supporting pix'n'love books and Kickstarter campaigns. However, as it takes me ages to read a French book, it would be nice to see more of your stuff translated in english or even german language.

      I'm looking forward to this!

And about Heart of Darkness... I really hope to see it get remastered or at least get a port to Steam or PSN. Loved that game.

    36. Abrial Da Costa Creator on October 30, 2015

@ Pip: thank you very much! About the book in pdf, we should think to offer it as well for free, if we get funded ;) you can put any name in the book . Heart of Darkness is one of my fav games on PSone, but so hard ;) cheers! Abrial

    37. Pip on October 29, 2015

I'm a huge fan of Eric and his games. Especially Heart of Darkness which I am quite obsessed with, Haha. Two quick questions for now. The first, will there be any plans for an ebook release as well? Like a digital download? Second, about acknowledgements could I have my preferred name there? This is a first for me and I'm not sure how these work. Thank you.
Really excited for this, my friend has the original French book but my French is quite awful and Ive been dying to read it. Always a huge fan. Hope you get all the funding you need.

      Hi Johan,
Sorry for the belated reply. It is a busy week for us here in Paris with the Paris Games Week show and the promotion of Kick Off Revival with Dino Dini.
So, I read your comment and I understand your point of view Johan, but the truth is I successfully published my book in France with Pix’n Love without any issue, and if I had more money to do it I would do the English version as well with them. They are young, passionate, and unfortunately they were scammed by bad people they hired in UK to provide books to English customers and, in the end they didn’t communicate well on it. Last week, I was sad to hear that some customers were getting mad at them…Marc, the founder, told me that he can be contacted anytime by email: mpetronille@editionspixnlove.fr regarding any issue.
      Best regards,
      Abrial

Hi Stefan, thank you very much for backing my project! As for the French version, I will manage the manufacturing of the book till the shipping. You can contact Marc from Pix'n Love : mpetronille@editionspixnlove.fr for any past issue.
      Best regards,
      Abrial

I backed this but I dont have a good feeling about it. I am still waiting for 2 pixnlove books i ordered two years ago. this is because one of them is still not finally translated I guess. The other one however could be delivered - but they won't do it until the second one is ready. ;-(

in honesty, i doubt the turn around time on this set will take long at all. As all thats needed is the translation and the printing. From the look of the kickstarter, the covers and everything included is the same as the french version, so i dont think people really need to worry about issues getting the book published. As soon as its translated its ready for print, and if the kickstarter succeeds then it should be a pretty fast turn around time. It would be a shame to see this fail due to a few upset ppl over a matter thats nothing to do with this book :( ....id also like to point out that pix n love tend to do a lot of special editions that are dependant on cult followers, so its understandable that from time to time a planned release can go balls up.

I can see that a lot of people are leaving comments like this and that Abrial is already frustrated, but it has to be stated that simply saying "we weren't aware" is not a good excuse. How does that alleviate any of our fears regarding Pix'n Love's practices? What about the future of this specific book?

The fact that Abrial is providing a contact that can actually fix things and the fact that Dave did get his money back are both nice things that I'm happy to see, but it's not a very big comfort. I'm trying to back a book I want to read, I'm not trying to set up some kind of future reimbursement situation where I lend the publisher my money for an unspecified amount of time.

Hi Christopher, first of all, thank you for your comment.

As I’ve answered Dave a few days ago: if you have any complain towards them, please write to Marc from Pix'n Love : mpetronille@editionspixnlove.fr

I repeat myself, but we weren't aware about these issues with Pix'n Love overseas. They did a great job for me on the biography of Eric, and I can't complain.

      Best regards,

i have the french version of this book, so im quite happy this english translation will be made as now i dont have to learn french to read it :P ....im not sure why people are crying about pix n love for? i own a few books made by them and all are at a very good quality. They sent me stuff overseas and the packaging was fine, and the boxes are still the casing i use to protect the items today. I hope this project gets completed.

Christopher Austin on October 24, 2015

This book looks rather good, but as stated below, Pix'n Love publishing has a rather poor reputation, and for that reason alone, I can't support this project. I've contacted them several times over the years, and in each situation, I NEVER once got a reply.

Shipping is super poor(flimsy box, with very little to no protection), especially for overseas mailing, and to think a collectible item like this may come through the post as I've receive several past books, and with no history of customer service at even the most basic level, I just can't risk supporting this project.

I will say that past books are very well done, and I would love to support future efforts, as books like this aren't main stream, and often don't get made, or translated unless fans show support. But as good as the books are, they come at a very high price of poor service. With their rich history of books, and quality, there is no reason why a better job can't and shouldn't be done on the other side of the business. Making good books is only part of running a successful business. Following up, and gaining fan trust is key as well.

Where is the Gunpei Yokoi book that was offered years ago, money taken, and no books delivered? How are why would anyone in their right mind support a new project, when old ones have not been filled?

    48. Abrial Da Costa Creator on October 23, 2015

      @Euph,

Hi there, we've checked and found out the error was on our end. We're gonna look into some sort of compensation for backers who have been charged too much for shipping on this tier. In the meantime, we've marked this tier as sold out and created a new one with the same specs but correct shipping cost.

We'll obviously honour the already pledged ones.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention !

      euph on October 23, 2015

      @Abrial,

I only backed the book (20€ tier) and I am charged with 10€ for shipping. And inf I take a look in the List of other countrys there are always 10€ for shipping to all other EU-Countrys baut only 4€ for shipping to countrys outside the EU. So I think there must be an mistake in this tier.
