Image update!

Hi everyone,

As promised in the comment section, here is an update with images of the changes applied to the watches. All the photos are shot with an iPhone camera, so please disregard the nightmarish quality! There are a LOT of small changes, and I will try to go through and visualize them one by one. First up: a picture of the new samples, all together:

The Crown:

Here are the changes to the crown design, in real life. The former crown was completely rounded and a little difficult to grip, so we changed it to the textured design  shown on the left which has better grip and (in my humble opinion) looks even better :)

The Power Reserve:

As you may remember, there was some discussion about the text/wording in the power reserve (top subdial), in particular about the wording becoming a bit 'cramped', which is why we changed it to simply "POWER" instead of "POWER RESERVE". The "L" has also been changed to an "E" to indicate that the power reserve is empty. Last but not least - although it can be difficult to see in the images - the indicator hand was reduced slightly in size to better match the new proportions.

The Main Dial:

OK so this one was damned difficult for me to capture with an iPhone. These images (try to) show the changes to the inner (central) dial of the watches. The main change here is that the circular 'groove' inside the dial has been upgraded to feature some texture (instead of just blank), which significantly adds to the overall depth and appearance of the watch. We're very happy with this change, and the pictures do it no justice! At the same time, the central dial color was darkened a bit on both the 01 and 03, which is probably not visible on these images but looks great in real life :)

The P51-02 White Dial:

This has probably been the biggest topic of debate lately! I only hope the images below clear up some of your concerns, despite of their nightmarish quality. The 02 dial is now a signfiicantly "brighter" tone of white than the former creamish dial - and we're actually quite pleased with this decision. The "problem" with the cream/greyish dial (in our view) was the lack of contrast between the hands and dial color, which could make the time difficult to read in darker lighting. The whiter backdrop solves this issue, while also tying the date-function and dial together, and we happen to think it looks stunning :) However, if you disagree with this, it's not too late to change your selection (just let me know!). Again - nightmarish image quality, and I'm happy to try again if need be :)

Laser engraved case:

We were not 100% pleased with the laser engravings on the case (where you see the rear lights reference and the REC logo), so these have been improved on the final samples. I realize that it can be difficult to tell on the images, but the laser engraving is a bit deeper and much clearer now :)

Case Horns:

On a similar note, we thought the case-horns (where you attach the strap) were a bit fickle on the old samples. So we've increased their size, and are very pleased with the result: the horns now fit the size proportions of the watch much better! I realize it's damned difficult to tell in these images, but the change is quite visible in real life!

The Caseback Screws:

As discussed in the previous update, we ran into some issues with the hexagon caseback screws, which prompted concerns from some backers. What I can say is that we're quite pleased with the result, and the caseback looks really well rounded, even with the new screws (it has a very "industrial" feel to it!). Below you can see the difference on the samples.

Quick Release Strap system

All the watches (read: straps) will be fitted with a quick release system as shown below. This makes it MUCH easier to change between straps, as you don't need tools.

The Straps Colors:

Below you can see the final strap colors. As mentioned in earlier updates, we've made some very significant upgrades to the strap quality and feel - and have absolutely no doubt you will be pleasantly surprised once you see them in real life :) The biggest change applies to the P51-02 Brown leather strap, which has been changed to a lighter (cognac-esque) color instead of a darker brown color. We're very pleased with the results, and again the images do not do justice to the final result!

The REC Logo:

The REC logo has been changed from an engraved placque to a written placque (Again, can be difficult to see on my horrible iPhone images) - as the engraved placque was difficult to read because of the light reflection of the sapphire glass. That means the text is much clearer now, and better fits with the printed placque of the VIN :)

Giftboxes:

We finally have some images to share of the "inner" giftbox. Please see the images below. This giftbox fits inside the cannister (also pictured), and we're quite happy with the outcome :)

Thanks for the update but when exactly is my watch expected to be shipped? If I had known possible delivery will be this late, I never would have backed the project.
