Two quick notes on this video:

1. We do not typically load the machine by hand. This video was for illustrative purposes only in order to show the simplicity of mixing products.

2. When a conveyer is used to load the machine, the end product comes out much quicker. The product can only come out as fast as we load it!

RT Natural Energy Products

Before we get to the history of how we got to where we are today and where we are headed (and its exciting), we are going to give you a run down of our products and the benefits that they can offer to you and our environment.

Here is what we can assure you.  If you take the time to read through our campaign, the majority of people will be shocked to learn that we can:

  • Provide a more affordable alternative to hydro, natural gas or propane as a source for energy (IN OTHER WORDS...SAVE PEOPLE MONEY)
  • We will help reduce the waste that goes into our landfills
  • Our product is 100% environmentally friendly

This is a company by the people...for the people.  Its time to start lowering our cost of living (at home and in our businesses) at the expense of big corporations and Government tax surcharges all while actually making a difference to our environment.

What Are We Raising Funds For?

  • To get into production
  • To finish the design of our residential furnace/boiler
  • To add an enhanced drying technology to our mobile units

Our minimum goal through kickstarter is to raise $400,000.  This will allow us to make a few more machines, get a roof over our heads and buy the materials that we require for packaging.  While it will take millions of dollars to get into full production (and we already have the inputs lined up), we are hoping kickstarter will give us the first step in the right direction.

What is RT Natural Energy Products?

We have created a product that can take various items that would typically decompose or be placed in landfill and convert them into a 100% environmentally friendly product that can be used for heat, fuel and electricity generation.

They look something like this:

The colour varies depending on the inputs used....but all of the results are the same!
The colour varies depending on the inputs used....but all of the results are the same!

....and they get packaged into a paper potato bag or sack and then end product will be known as:  RT Fire In A Bag.

What Materials Go Into Making A Brickette?

We are glad that you asked that question.  Any form of biomass (something that was alive at some point) can theoretically be used in our process.  The simplicity of our process allows us to mix various inputs of biomass.  Here is a partial list of some of the biomass that we have successfully tested in the past:

WOOD & PAPER INPUTS
  • Trees
  • Branches & Leaves
  • Shredded Paper
  • Whole Books
  • Cardboard Boxes
  • Paraffin Wax Boxes
  • Bacon Board
  • Demolition Wood
PLANTS & FOOD INPUTS
  • Switchgrass
  • Various Meniscus Grasses
  • Hay
  • Corn Stalk
  • Soy Stalk
  • Coffee Grounds
  • Seed Shells
  • Pits, Stems & Vines
OTHERMUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE
  • Municipal Solid Waste....Coming Soon
  • Animal Feces (ex:  Horses, Cows, Chickens, etc...)

Here are some pictures:

What's In It For You:

Well it will be different for everyone as our Brickettes can be used recreationally  (ex:  wood stoves) or commercially (ex:  industrial boilers) but here are a few ideas on how they can be currently used:

  • Wood stoves to heat your house
  • Special furnaces (coming soon) to heat your house
  • Furnace or boiler use to heat and create electricty for your business (ex:  greenhouses, warehouses, apartment buildings, hospitals, jails, municipal buildings, etc...)

The cost of purchasing brickettes as a fuel or heat source vs natural gas and propane will result in an approx  savings of 30-40% vs natural gas or propane.

Some Technical Information About The Brickettes:

  • Burn at a BTU > 8000 which is equivalent to natural gas and propane
  • There are no adhesives, binding agents or chemicals in our product (as we stated...100% environmentally friendly)
  • The residual ashe content after burning is 0.02%
  • The energy content of 1 tonne of brickettes is equal to approx. 120 gallons of fuel oil
  • Come in diameters of 1.5" or 2" and lengths of 3" to 12"
  • Compared to wood pellets (which can only be composed of wood and a few grasses), our brickettes will stand up better against exposure to moisture

About The Machine:

Sometimes in the excitement behind the finished product we forget to talk about just how versatile the machine that processes that material is.  Here is a picture followed by a few highlights:

  • It is 100% mobile and can be pulled behind a pick up truck
  • It works flawlessly
  • It was designed to be scalable with other machines so if one goes down production does not stop
  • It produces slightly under 2000 lbs of throughput material per hour
  • It can be run on diesel fuel, with electricity or with a PTO drive shaft from a tractor  (Note:  The Diesel engine is a high efficiency water engine....this was more expensive but this is much more environmentally friendly!)
  • The cost of running each machine (yes this a real number) is approx. $2.50/hr plus the cost of one persons labour....and one person can run multiple machines!   (Note:  This does not include the hydro option as each area has varying rates)
  • A hammermil attached to the machine breaks down the materials into usable inputs

Who Created This Technology?

While the team at RT Natural Energy perfected the machine, this has been a 5 year work in progress amongst engineers and tool and die makers within varying parts of North America.  The original concept was to take a compression machine and make it mobile so that various woods or grasses could be processed on site without the need of transporting it to a stationary location (ex:  at a construction site using demolition wood or a forestry site picking up the remnants of leaves and branches).  After a lot of research and development, when overcoming our challenges to make perfect brickettes out of wood and grass, we came to realize that our technology was able to process all forms of biomass....truly an industry break thought....and that is how we got to where we are today.

So where does that leave us today?

So after five years of research and development:

  • We have a fully operational machine which has successfully processed all of the above materials.
  • We have an environmental and city approval to build a building to mass produce the material on our site.
  • Government, business and individual interest from several countries across the world not named Canada or the United States

As part of our financial plan, we were counting on Government Funding that we are entitled to through research and development.  Whenever you put so many dollars out, you are entitled to receive a small portion back through the SR&ED program.  Well apparently our technology does not fit into any of their cookie cutter programs so they are having a hard time "figuring it out"....that was 2010 (forget about waiting for 2011, 2012 and 2013).  So we are turning to everyday people to help get us started.

Any and all help will be appreciated.  Help us help you and our environment.  Thank you.

Risks and challenges

Our biggest risk to this project has more to do with the timing of getting into production vs a problem with the product itself. The product is simply amazing but we are concerned that a big corporation with large dollars will eventually figure out why nobody else can mix any kind of biomass like we can, corner the market and drive prices up. Lets prevent corporate greed together!
