Table lamp: COVER LAMP "Dorothy of Green"
Because cardboard was so easy to work with, also as it was one of the most ecological materials we could get at that time, the first idea came to create something out of used cardboard boxes, which shops were usually throwing away to trash bins. Therefore, the form of cardboard sheets have made us think 2D: as a result the design of the lamp is two dimensional.
After having our first prototypes, we participated in several local trade fairs and national competitions, where we got 4 nominations for the most ecological idea and sustainable business.
We will add you 2 covers to your COVER LAMP reward!
Personalize it in your own way!
This lamp was made only from used cardboard boxes gathered from local stores and shops. In this way we recycled in even more efficient way, avoiding waste transportation, material reprocessing and redistributing.
Night table lamp: GOLD CUBE / "Annette from gold mill"
Our first creations were beautiful and minimalistic, therefore some of them appeared in DIY projects on various blogs. It was a time to create something more impressive and technological.
Adomas tried his chances and with one of them we instantly fell in love.
It was a cube night lamp and as soon as it was lit up, its reflections of light reminiscent gold: this is how the name GOLDEN CUBE has born.
To improve this lamp and make it more rigid and long-lasting we used 100% recycled plastics to cover the exterior of the lamp. It was also important to us to make this lamp closer to perfection, therefore we have improved how the lamp looks inside of the case.
The materials used to create GOLDEN CUBE are 100% recycled cardboard and plastic. To produce these lamps we will use low energy consuming laser cutter, which, together with all ventilation systems, will consume as much power as just a single microwave.
Why are we gathering funds?
After 2 years of intense researching, designing, experimenting and prototyping, we believe that we are ready to start making our creations accessible to everyone who care about environment and would love to have something special at their home. However, in order to do this we have to go through safety certification, also as to buy required tools (instead of expensively renting them): it does cost a lot of money we don't have ourselves.
If we were to sell our lamps in small quantities, its price would be outrageous, for example: if we were to buy required electronics to make 5 lamps it would cost at least 5 times more than if we were to make 100 of them at once. With your help we can make our environmentally friendly products more affordable and accessible to much more people. This is why we really need your help!
Let start making the dreams become reality!
Minimum Goal £7500
It will also allow us to buy required materials and rent tools, which would let us materialize our Golden Cube & Cover Lamp, which backers will be able to receive this as a token of our gratitude. By reaching this goal we also be able to develop our brand and team to bring our creations accessible to more people.
Stretch Goal £25000
IN ADDITION, we will be able to acquire our own long-wished laser cutter machine, which is the most efficient and sustainable tool we have ever used for our production. It would let us develop our own creative space where our team will further and much faster develop new ideas and make it happen, also as increase our capability to get more talented people to join us and make their dreams become reality.
How we will do it?
Justas - Director - 3 years of experience in running and managing various businesses, 2nd year student of Electric and Electronics Engineering. He will take care that all materials and equipment will come on time. The order details for materials and equipment are already arranged with suppliers, just the final quantities and confirmations need to be sent. The workshop is already found and agreed to be available to use after successful Kickstarter project, just tools and equipment need to be put in there. Having a title of Electric and Electronic Engineering student for 2nd year now, he will make sure that all electronics are assembled correctly and safely, also as carry out the required testing for certification of the product.
Adomas - Product designer - 2nd year Architecture student, worked for 6 moths in developing new and improving old prototypes for Green Spirit Creations. With more than a year experience of working with laser cutter and prototyping he will coordinate the production. With the help of Justas and Vilius he will make sure that the lamps and all the details are assembled and finalised perfectly, as planned.
Vilius - Visual designer - as he is the 2nd year Product Design student and is the most experienced with packaging and usability of design, he will make sure that the appearance and sustainability of packaging is at its best, also taking a big part in helping Adomas in lamp assembling.
Indre and Greta - Product designers - girls will take care of the one of the most important parts of the business: communicating with our backers and supporters. They will make sure that all questions are answered and everyone are aware of the process in production. They will also be the final jury in confirming any changes made in our products.
Advisers - we have a great bunch of mentors and experienced advisers in electric product certification, manufacturing and business management, which have from 10 to 25 years of experience in their specialty fields. They will guide us all the way through the process and make sure that we learn from mistakes before we do them.
Suppliers - we are dealing with suppliers who love people the same as we do. We feel amazing when we know that everyone involved in the creation of our ideas are paid and treated fairly. Our suppliers are from UK and other European countries.
