About this project
In this fast-paced environment, there have been many advancements in cell phones and cameras. However, finding a professional photographer is still a difficult task. Looking up random offerings on Facebook or your friend’s friend’s recommendations are questionable ways to verify a photographer’s credibility and sky-high pricing.
We proposed Flash. A mobile application that easily connects customers to photographers in an all-in-one affordable service that lets users quickly gauge photographer profiles, pricing, ratings, and photo-styles in the nearby area.
Our solution differs from the current competition in that it allows anyone with a professional level camera and who pass a background check to become a photographer on the app. This is a great platform for photographers that are looking to expand their portfolio and make some extra cash during their free time.
For users, the app provides an affordable and easy alternative to finding the right photographer that matches your time, place, and price. The app allows photographers to update their locations when they are willing to take photos, making it a time efficient way of getting high-quality photos whenever you want them. This on-the-fly feature aims to provide an affordable photographer that wants to make some extra cash in their free time.
How It Works
Flash is a mobile application that goes where you go. When you want to find a photographer, simply open up the app:
- Enter in the date, time, and location that you want a photographer to meet up with you.
- Browse through the available photographers until you find one that fits your style, see their rates, and book the one that you like!
- Once you've booked a photographer, their contact information can be seen when you hit the clock next to your account icon.
Graduation is approaching and the majority of our team sought out for photography services to capture our last moments in the university. Though the school provided options and random photography posts on Facebook were available, the question for a consistent source of affordability, credibility, and scheduling still remained. We wanted a guaranteed method to find photographers whenever we want, wherever we want, without the hassle of scheduling and pricing. As a result, we have carefully crafted Flash, an all-encompassing photography service application that is both simple and easy to use.
We are composed of 3 UCSD students with background in Design and Computer Science.
(From left to right)
Annie Chen is a senior at UCSD with experience in UX/UI design, computer science, and digital/traditional art. With a knack for creative endeavors and technology, she is able to have a holistic outlook on the development of the application.
Wendy Lee is a senior at UCSD. She has experience with UX/UI design that has been cultivated through multiple projects. With a background in Cognitive Science and HCI, she is able to provide a pleasant experience for the user.
Ray Wang is a 3rd year at UCSD, he is a Cognitive Science and Speculative Design double major. He has experience designing UI/UX as well as many different forms of visual design. He also is a photographer himself and has his first hand insight on the flash project.
How the Funding will be used
As full-time college students, it is difficult to develop an application while needing to pay for the University’s costs.
In order to develop fulltime a high-quality, sleek application for the ease of you, we are seeking funding for technical labor and resource in gathering professional photographers world-wide.
Risks and challenges
Risks of this project are minimal, but will require patience in working out kinks to the application to make it seamless on both the photographer and the customer ends of the spectrum.
Our team has experience in creating user friendly UI's and software so that any problems that do arise will be addressed and fixed.
However, even though we have a strong team, there could be unforeseen delays in development. Additionally, some of the members of our team are currently students with projects, graduation, and job searching on the horizon. Due to these circumstances, the project may be unexpectedly delayed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
