Dear Aspiring Villain,
We have received your application for admission to the League of Evil. While many of my colleagues support murdering you in your sleep to pay for your arrogance, League policy dictates that you be given a chance to impress us and redeem yourself. Also, tonight is taco night.
What you do next is up to you. But for your sake, we suggest it involves a healthy amount of scheming with your fellow villains. Stay on the move. Get your name in the papers. Put the authorities on high alert. Do your laundry.
Or perhaps you have a secret weapon you would prefer to demonstrate…? We hear that annoying Captain Mallet just graduated from his therapy class, so by all means point it his way and fire. Just be sure it, you know, works.
Remember: there is no penalty for failing to impress us. But the penalty for wasting our time is death.
Evil Upheaval is a competitive cutthroat strategy board game for 2-5 players that insists you work with your fellow villains to complete schemes, then pits you against one another as only one of you can be accepted into the League of Evil. With two different win conditions you need to keep a close eye on your fellow villains. Changing locations, managing your resources, and using your powers to devastating effect is just as important as making sure the League recognizes your accomplishments. So if your evil schemes aren't enough to get their attention, you might have to do something really drastic-like build your own secret weapon and take Captain Mallet out once and for-all.
The game consists of 3 phases each round.
MOVEMENT PHASE: During the movement phase every villain most move to a new location. Trying to get the Leagues attention has also attracted the attention of the authorities. Who knew they followed you on social media?
ACTION PHASE: During the action phase each villain will take turns taking one action at a time until there is only one villain standing. This villain has shown great potential and the League acknowledges their devious long drawn out plans of EVIL!
RESOLUTION PHASE: During the resolutions phase you resolve the last villain standing's final actions, resolve any schemes that may have been completed by villains, and finally refresh the board and get ready for a brand new day.
These phases are repeated until one of the following conditions is met.
REPUTATION VICTORY: Once any Villain reaches 15 Reputation, the League of Evil accepts that Villain and the game is over. That Villain wins--more importantly, everyone else loses. (You can gain Reputation from Schemes or being Last Villain Standing)
SECRET WEAPON VICTORY: Any Villain who Defeats Captain Mallet is automatically accepted into the League of Evil (regardless of Reputation) and that Villain wins the game. It might cost you a pretty Penny, but it's worth it.
CAPTAIN MALLET VICTORY (LITERALLY EVERYONE LOSES): However, once there are no Schemes left in the deck, Captain Mallet declares victory. The League of Evil rejects everyone, the game is over, and the players never speak to one another again. Let the finger pointing begin.
In Evil Upheaval, you play as an aspiring villain who wants nothing more than to join the notorious "League of Evil." While the League still considers you a nobody, completing schemes, building your secret weapon, and betraying your "friends" might just do the trick. But be careful--after a decade of therapy, Captain Mallet is back, and his preferred handshake is a punch to the face. So you and your fellow villains will have to stay on the move. Meanwhile Captain Mallet will patrol the town, "heroically" stopping any Schemes in his tracks, which means it would take a Weapon of truly epic proportion to defeat him. Now if only you could get all this foreshadowing off your shoes…

It's important to note everything here is as close to the final product in design, but not production. These are all prototypes from different independent companies and not from the manufacturing company we will be using. Thanks for understanding.
There are many things we are adding no matter what happens. These are things like reputation busts for each villain instead of plastic sorry pieces, custom wooden power markers, and all 16 schemes. We feel like a game should have all the things that make it fun and functional. We want every game to be great and these changes have come to be a must. Our cost has increased, but the most important thing to us is providing a quality and complete game, so we are keeping the price the same.
There have been many people that have been with us through it all and others that become great friends very quickly. We couldn't list everyone, but There is a special place in our heart for all of these wonderful people and everyone involved.

It's important to note all images used in this kickstarter and videos are prototypes printed from multiple locations such as thegamecrafter, printplaygames, boardgamesmaker, and others. We assure you the final product will be of the highest quality, because we have very high standards, and want you to love the game as much as we do.
Risks and challenges
There have been many challenges with this project of passion. All of which are helping us grow as a company. We greatly appreciate the support and understanding everyone has had. With every challenge we come across we find 3 new ones. More importantly every challenge we are faced with makes all the future challenges that much easier. We want nothing more than to make you happy.
The biggest challenge ahead of us is also the most exciting for us. Working with the Criminal Masterminds, and Evil Super-Geniuses to get their Villain persona into the game. We can't wait to see who you are and what evil you will be bringing to the game. To make sure we have the games delivered on time we will have a hard deadline for working with our team to make sure your villain is to your liking and also fits in the game without breaking any laws.
That all being said, this is our first production game and with all firsts there are a lot of unknowns. It's a learning process for us, so we are getting as much help as possible from other local companies and 3rd party companies that have done this for a long time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
