About

The Book

Ten great short stories, all with the common theme of modern tabletop gaming.

If you are a fan of board games and card games, then this is the book you have been waiting for. The ten stories are all very different - there is comedy, romance, suspense, sci-fi, and fantasy - in tales written by talented writers, who also happen to be gamers.

WARNING - This book contains some adult humour and adult themes, and is not suitable for children.

The Project

Last year, I was looking for a book to read, and I decided I wanted to read something that featured my favourite hobby, board gaming. I looked everywhere, but there was nothing.

Nothing!

That doesn't seem right does it? There should be books about gaming, shouldn't there?

So I decided to make one myself.

I put adverts all over gaming websites looking for gamers who were also writers, and I put adverts all over writers' websites looking for writers who were also gamers.

I asked them all to contribute to an anthology of short stories, with the theme of Tabletop Gaming.

Soon my inbox began to bulge with some great stories from gamers and writers. The first one I received was a nostalgic tale about childhood experiences with Dungeons & Dragons, which I fell in love with straight away. Then, others started to arrive, featuring Eurogames, war games, social deduction games, gateway games, strategy games, train games, zombie apocalypse survival games, and many more. Some were comedies, some were thrillers, some sci-fi, some horror. I had a fantastic time reading them all; they were all so entertaining.

I was tempted just to stop there actually, having satisfied my original desire to read stories about games, but I knew I owed these writers something, after all the trouble they had gone to because of my request.

So, working with a small team of editors, I chose my favourite ten stories (including a contribution of my own) and put them into a book, and promised to split all the profits equally between the writers.

I am hoping that you will agree with me that this is a fun idea, and that you will back the project. And if this project is funded, I will know that the world does agree with me, and that it wants a "Volume 2", which will be my next project.

Thanks for reading this.

Risks and challenges

The stories are written, the cover is finished. I have found a publishing firm, and the proofs have been received and checked.

At the end of 2017 we sent out some promo copies, and also sold a few copies of the first edition (which is now no longer available). The feedback was universally great, so we are are confident you will enjoy the book.

I can't think of anything that could go wrong really. I have written and published books before, and I know what I am doing. I wrote Ticket To Carcassonne a couple of years ago.

As soon as the project finishes, I will be able to send out copies to all backers shortly afterwards.
