There's quite a few differences, we've outlined the biggest ones below:
- The Showcase base was designed to take advantage of the physics of gyroscopes to seemingly defy gravity. Although the base is clearly heavier on one side, when the gyro is spun up the base will not roll over, the heavy side will stay up and spin around the gyro until the wheel slows down!
- The RODA includes a new way to hold a gyroscope. It has two spinning cylinders on the sides, when the wheel is spinning, you can control how the RODA spins by moving your hands. It's a great way to fidget and feels extremely unintuitive!
- Most gyroscopes use a string that has to be wound around the shaft. The process is time consuming and tedious to do every time, not to mention that the strings are very easy to break or misplace. The RODA uses an integrated gear that can be wound in a second, for faster, easier spins!
- The RODA is designed out of all-metal components and is precision made using CNC machines. The sleek look is a big step up from traditional gyroscopes that are usually made of plastic or use cheap manufacturing methods.
Lastly, the RODA looks absolutely beautiful, even when it's not spinning. It's a high-end piece that immediately draws people's attention.
